Need some suggestions on how to remove the sticky plastic pads which protect your roof paintwork from scratches when using roof bars. They have been on the car for about 4 years and seem to have gone a bit hard / brittle. I have tried to peel them off but they are proving to be tough! I tried applying some Autoglym tar removal without much success.

Soak them with an APC (All Purpose Cleaner) which should soften the glue and then you should be able to easily remove. If that doesnt work try a pre citrus cleanser as this easily removes glue residue. Failing that soak it with WD40 then wash off.

Thanks Brodster. Will be giving it a go this weekend.
