Have just got an A4 Estate Diesel B5 1999 high mileage 178k but running fine once warmed up, was going to change the glow plugs first so took off the plastic engine cover and the soundproofing is falling apart - I have tried finding the actual part but don't know the part number or name, there is loads of soundproofing material but not sure what thickness and type.
Would like to replace this, just part of servicing - anyone know what it is.
Have contacted a few scrap yards and it appears that all cars of that date AFN engine, the soundproofing is in the same condition.
