installed and working amazingly on my A3 mate, currently running 378bhp at 1.55 bar.
Dan is in the process of installing it on his TT also, which is 4wd
Get dan to have a play around with yours....your turbines bigger than the tfsi's
its on the cards mate as I do have a spare k26 am I right in thinking it was the hotside that was the restriction on it ? I'm sure I read that the mtm manifold flows well so getting the turbo worked and 3inch down pipe could be a pretty cheap way to get more power
Would be the way if be heading even if had the k26 hotside machined for a different garrett turbine
Beware that the garrett/k26 turbine housings don't have the same dimensions as our k26's in relation of mani flange to downpipe flange positioning....which is fine and all good if your going for a custom dp but this is the point I got ****** off and changed direction as was sold to me as a drop in solution
Also it does bring the turbo closer to the bulkhead but will fit and is do able....all the pics on the housings and differences are well documented in my thread
If you decide to go this route my gtx is up for sale with the compact housing
Cars purpose has changed and when specced and bought the turbo, spec was the 1.8t lump you've now got, underslung turbo on mani you've now got and car was my daily hack
Now am a stroker with valvetrain that can rev, top mounted and car will just be used for show weekends and to be thrashed ;-)
Am shopping about for a used gt35 chra with good turbine and shaft...rest will be replaced by our resident turbo guru (that's the plans anyhows whether works out that way is another matter)
Was previously talking to forced performance about a hta3582 before the gtx got fitted but never proceeded as was worried with the lag/usable powerband on an everyday car
No 1/4 mile data, and I don't imagine you're likely to get any any time soon, as my car isn't setup for the 1/4 mile at all and wouldn't give a decent representation of it's ability. Having been in several GT28RS (assuming you mean 2860) cars though, the 064 car is definitely quicker, and spools much earlier too on the road. Figures are more comparable to a gt2871 kind of region, just with a much lower boost threshold.Any 1/4 mile results with K04-064 on 1.8T? Just curious for straight line performance compared to Gt28RS for example...
this is awesome news! cant wait for it to get its numbers up and see the results !Cars being started tomorrow
Dan has also finished the 4wd downpipe now and it fits pefectly and doesn't look as complex as I expected it too!
the mk5> 4wd platforms actually have a larger tunnel Sam, and can take the downpipe down the other side of the propshaft apparently. We discovered that when initially looking to see if we could run a mk5 3'' DP/ Decat on the A3Surely not dissimilar to a Golf R one?
I can't wait to see the figures, more info on this......
