ignition barrel removal

right this isint a question on a how to extra.. its more of a WTF has folk been playing at!!!
I had a quick look for a removal guide and most have said get the drill out strip the coloum out and drill a hole in the side of the housing then put a pin in to slide the barrel out extra...

no you need a kirby grip and about 60 seconds of you're time..
If any one is interested I will do a video or just pictures if I cant get someone to hold the camera

exactly mate but the guides I found were talking about drilling it..

seem to remember drilling a small pilot hole in a Mk2 Golf steering column to get a barrel out some years back

but on Audi I am sure if you turn the ignition on the port you need opens and you stick a pin (thick one!) in there and turn the key back and pull

yip that's exactly it Ed I had a look on mine today for changing the barrel over.

Have you had any joy with getting the barrel out?
