Broken Spring!?

Hey Guys.

I started my car ( A3 1.8 Sport, 2001) and began pulling away as normal. There was a sizeable bang but nothing seemed to be affected after checking the car over. When i steer near to full lock i get a twang and then the same twang but louder when i get near central lock on the way back. I have heard this could be a snapped spring?

If anyone has any ideas i'd be grateful.

Sounds plausible... easiest way to tell is to look under the arch... using a torch or similar and it should be visible...

Jacking the car up would make it a little easier too...
