steam from exhaust

I need some opinions or advice on this!(98 a4 1.8 N/A ADR engine). I while back ive noticed that there is some steam coming out of exhaust while the engine is running even in hot weather. I've noticed this when i pulled in to a petrol station on motorway after a long journey. Ive noticed that coolant level drops a bit in around two weeks time. It goes from max line to a minimum line. Is the head gasket on the way or the head could have a small crack. Thanks.

Sounds like a head gasket. Pressure test the coolant system. If you lose pressure you will need to take the head off, most likely a gasket, but you won't know untill it's off unfortunately.
