p1296 code?

Hi guys, searched about and i know that this problem comes up normally due to a faulty thermostat but my problem is i got this code when i first got the car, replaced the sensor and the thermo and worked for ages and now recently (since pcv/n249) its started to come back cleared it and has come back 2 days later, i dont think it will be the thermo again, it oculd be the sensor as i replaced the old one with an ebay green top not sure if it was a genuine one tho.

my question is could it be anything else other than those two?

yeah that just says about the 2 things ive changed?

anyone got any ideas? still there and dont want to do the thermo again if its not needed shall i try and get a genuine sensor?

When it comes to sensors on VAG mate make sure you always buy OEM parts - usually made by Bosch.

I'm not saying 100% that this will solve your specific problem - but should be the first port of call IMO.
