18" alloys... what offset top go for...

hi all,
i'm looking into getting some nice 18" alloys for my 2.5Tdi Quatt....
i know i need 225/40x18" tyres, but what offset do i need, i DON'T want to use spacers at all.

What width?

I'm running 8.5J with a ET35

not sure about width yet, either 8 or 8.5, think 9's are pushing it a bit far.
