Boot Lid Not Locking!

Today my boot lid decided it didn't want to lock! So i went off to work and then randomly locked itself! Any ideas?

I had the same buddy, it will gradually get worse and it won't catch or lock at all.

I took the latch mechanism to bits (the bit on the bootlid) and used silicon grease to lubricate all the moving parts - it's rather clever how it works actually!!!

It's been perfect ever since, took me about 45 minutes but I could do it in 15 now.

Yeah, that's the bit mate.

Pop the plastic cover off and remove the bootlid lining.

There was a guide somewhere, give me 5 to find it.

This tells you how to replace it, but once it's off you just need to separate it (obvious when you have it in your hand) and lubricate all moving parts.

Looks daunting, is actually very easy.

Cheers Sandra, yes im in the midlands, thanks for offering although ill give it a go, got not silicone grease but have got this, reckon it'll be any good?

I reckon that will be too thick to be honest mate, the parts still need to move freely - you will see what I mean when you get it open

Pop to Halfords and grab some spray grease.
