hi guys....im currently looking for a tdi and just wanted to know about the dsg gearboxes?

did the a3's ever have a different auto box apart from the dsg?

reason being i went to view an a3 yesterday and the guy was saying it was using the cvt gearbox and not the dsg, even though it had the paddle shifts????

can someone clarify this

thanks in advance
ahsan

Never heard of a CVT in an A3!
Wouldn't think you could change gear manually as it means 'Constantly Variable Transmission'......

thats what confused me, i thought all automatics would have been dsg???

also he said that if it has the leather gaitor on the gear stick, it is a dsg?

The seller doesn't know what he's talking about. TDIs are all dsg or manual and paddle shift on A3 = dsg.
The only a3s that had a 'multitronic' auto are the 1.6 and 2.0fsi (non turbo).
