XS Exhaust Manifold heat shield

Just ordered a 1.5mm thick sheet to knock up a heat shield.

Leigh or liquid, can you confirm the length and size of the bolts you used to screw the shield to the rocker cover?

Sorry mate,we used the original bolts that hold the fiber heat sheild to the rocker cover.

I've not had chance to fit it yet bud. Just got my car back tonight from having the mani, DP & cat fitted.

M6 x 15 mm should be fine Westy

Right little update.the design's and material's have gone to the fabricators.there will be two changes from the original sheild.first of all it will be made useing thicker stainless steel due to it's properties,it's less brittle,the titanium one did have some stress cracks in the bends.so all stainless now.
and also where the tag is that bolts to the rocker cover,that will be welded into position for more strength.
so the v2 heat sheild should be ready within a week or so,i will keep you all posted.might put them on ebay to keep it seperate to asn sales ect.thanks adam.

Yes they are easy to put on really,it will be fine,but if you do want the thicker version,the batch i have got made up are ready for me to pick up now.i will post up details when ready for dispatch.

All the sheilds are finished at the fabricators,just need to check every one,make sure all the bends are spot on.and get the tag's welded.i will start a new thread when compleated.thanks.

Mine was modded slightly from the template Leigh sent me as I no longer have the heat shield onto the head that you boys have fitted to.

I also had to hammer a dent in the part under the metal charge pipe as it was fouling.

Main goal was to protect the red hose which it does so I'm happy.

probably was hitting,due to it not haveing the strength of the other side being held down.but fair enough,bay looks good by the way.
