Hi all,

In the process of looking into getting my gearbox reconditioned / getting hold of a reconditioned box (mine whines and is difficult to select first and second, particularly when cold). At the same time I'm going to get my clutch replaced and as only at stage 1 and unlikely to push the car too far I'm sticking with OEM quality. I've had a couple of quotes so far, the best of which breaks down as so:

Recondition my gearbox £645+vat
New 3 piece clutch kit LUK £220.00
Labour £250.00
subTotal £1115.00
+VAT @20%
Total £1338.00

This is from Volks Apart: VW MANUALGEARBOX VOLKSWAGEN MANUAL GEARBOXES VW GEARBOX AUDI GEARBOXES SEAT GEARBOXES SKODA GEARBOXES 02K DUU DUS DLP ERT

Question is, at 81K miles, should I also be replacing the flywheel? I've had mixed advice so far and think it's the original....

Any help / comments on price appreciated. Got a couple more places to ring tomorrow.

Cheers,

Dan

If your box is 5 speed you should go g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch if you aren't already

Sorry, should have mentioned that it's an AMK S3, VR6 clutch won't fit

If I was in your position I would have the flywheel changed. In my experience a dual mass flywheel won't last for 2 clutches
