Power steering failure , j500 Advise needed!!!

About a month ago my dreaded red steering wheel light came on and lost all power steering ,
Since then I had the fault code read and it came back as j500 which I believe is the power steering module ,
I went to gsf and got another rack but had no module on it ,but you can't buy these modules separate
so my question is if I was to buy a 2 nd hand rack that has the module on are these interchange able or do I need one that matches my part number ?
The number on my rack is 1k2423051AC
any help much appreciated

Have you still got the rack for sale?will it fit my audi a3 2004 2.0tdi? how much you wanting?

think my car has same problem, steering light on, and really heavy steering, to the point its hard to move when stationary.

i brought a 3rd gen rack in the end with loom,had it fitted,
works fine but has brought up the glow plug symbol flashing,
scanned for fault codes and this come up internal control module
p1640 fault code 18048
eeprom error

has anyone kindly got any pointers thanks dan
