Whirring noise

Hi guys just a quick questing I know you can't diagnose over the internet, just after some suggestions on what it could be.

recently my car has started to make noises it seems to happen when I am doing between 40-60 to start and once its started it continues but only when it is in gear and when I put the power on.

Background info
hear more in 6th gear
slight pin hole in exhaust (3 weeks ago when I look haven't looked since)
1 tyre is different to the rest
i've had a quick look at wheel bearings they seem fine
I have done the 249 delete

These symtoms seem to pointing me towards a gearbox/diff/haldex bearing or something along those lines,
don't know but could the fuel pump make this noise.

Just after some suggestions
car has done 138k miles

Its unlikely to be the wheel bearing if it's under load, you normally hear them when either under lateral pressure (round a corner) or when cruising.

I'd try plugging the hole in the exhaust quickly with a bit of paste and see if that changes things, then you'd know (thats not my idea of a proper fix by the way, just to help fault diagnosis)

Do you know when the diff and gearbox oils were last changed? Haldex oil change?

I'm not sure when the gearbox or haldex oil was changed Im having it go in for a service end of september time I just kinda wanted to see what to expect on the bill , or if I could sort myself.

Well changing the oils is quite an easy job, and worth doing if it hasn't been done for a while. In fact it's quite common to find Haldex has been completely neglected if the car hasn't been serviced by Audi or a specialist that know what they are doing.

Does the noise come from the front/middle/rear of the car? Have you checked the centre prop mount bearing? Transfer box? If you could pin point the location of the noise that would help mate.

sorry I can't really pin point at the moment will have a proper listen tommorow or friday when I take the poor girl out thanks for suggestions but I off to sleep now.

will let you know if I find anything any more suggestions would be great.
