Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5w 30

Just a quick one, having my car serviced next week would the Shell Helix as above be the one to use??? Cars a 1.8t 2001

I would go for Quantum plat 5W-40. Nicer to use! although i recently had a service and the garage put 5-30 in but its too thin and will eat the oil up from my past experience.

I believe 5w40 is the best option, as Gops said 5w30 is too thin.
