The trouble is you have to "panic" because of all the muppets that panicked. I mean, I had to get some fuel when I heard the announcement because I knew everyone would be queuing at the pumps. Remember last time it happened? I do, I lived right near to the fuel depot in Hemel Hempstead (before it blew up) and the tankers that were driving had a police escort.
Someone in the thread is from Aus, well it was like Mad Max in Hemel when the last strike happened.
People panic and take more petrol than they need and that causes the problem. Like when Northern Rock crashed, it was because everyone panicked and withdrew all their savings.
It is a dangerous game, and without doubt the government minister knew the risks, but still decided to cause panic. Obviously a political move, whatever spin they put on it. And I think it was reckless behaviour.
Once the fuel starts running out then the run on the supermarkets begin. Watch that Water, Milk and bread run out
And all of this because of one government minister who decided to get one over on the Unite union.
I have filled my tank. No more than usual, no extra cans, and I will drive slowly to conserve fuel.
But when I run out I just won't be able to get to work, tough cookie really.
