Does anybody know how the door lock/unlock button can be replaced? Mine has a couple of scracthes and i'd like to change it. The only thing keeping me from this is if i'd have to take the door card down. Since i haven't done this before, i wouldn't want to take it down just for this and maybe also get a couple of noises afterwards..

I don't think you need to take the card off, I'm pretty sure you can prise the plastic surround out in front of it.
Audi usually make this kind of thing fairly simple. I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong!:sadlike:

i replaced mine without taking the door card off was very tricky to do but can be done , easiest way is to remove the card tho , can't remember off hand how the switch comes out of the card tho i think its just clicked in but not 100% sure

Mine need changing too, the last owner must've worn rings! Is there an upgrade for these switches, like the chrome tipped window switches?

Not only because of the rings, but the button just isn't very scratch resistant.
So now i can order the button and replace it, i hope that it will be easy. Will post here when i do.
For anyone else interested, the part number is 8P1 962 107 5PR, for the 3dr, soul black.

Don't know about any upgrade of this button, anyway i guess the chrome would look weird there. Hope that they've made them more resistant though. :)

Thanks all for the help.

Sorry for double posting, but it seems that it's not always that simple..
More exactly, there are two part numbers for either side:
LHD:
8P1 962 107 for 05/2003 - 10/2006
8P1 962 107 B for 11/2006 - 05/2007
RHD:
8P2 962 108 for 05/2003 - 10/2006
8P2 962 108 B for 11/2006 - 05/2007

I wonder why they changed it and what are the modifications after 2006. Maybe someone with a 2007 onwards model can tell us..

^^^Would those part numbers work for a 2004 a3? if you do it post a little guide of how you did it if you dont mind.... pics would be even better lol

They should fit.
Oficially, 8P1 962 107 will surely work for LHD or 8P2 962 108 for RHD.
The question is if the revised version from 2006, the
8P1 962 107 B, will work..
