Axle stands - Where do I put them?

I havent needed to have my car jacked up for a prolonged period but soon I will be doing a little work with the front bumper off and as such would like to put it on axle stands. I dont want to sound thick but where abouts under the car do I put them?

dont think there is a particular section as long as its solid and not going to move its fine
