oily patch above exhaust heatshield

evenin peeps,

was under the car today changing the centre exhaust clamp (had to remove the old one with an angle grinder as the nuts were rusted to nothing) anyway i noticed that coming from above the heatshield just behind the cats was some oily stuff here is a pic of it, it can also be seen through a couple of wee holes in the middle of the heat shield

anyone know what its from?
is it some kinda driveshaft bearing?

obviously I need to get under and have a look properly but from this picture what is it most likely to be and what parts would i need? also is it likely to be a serious thing?
