how to replace air dial?

hey i don't have air con- just the normal hot/ cold air set up- can anyone tell me how the dial parts (i.e. the bit you turn to regulate the heat and amount etc) come out? i have a really horrible scrape which is annoying me on one of these dials ....do they just pull off?

is it the dial or in behind it that is scraping? they just pull off but to get into the part behind you have to remover the stereo, facia cover etc to get into it.

Hey Khufu! no its not scraping- i've just got a big scrape/mark on the dial part itself....i thought it might just pull off but figured i should make sure first! thanks
