I have just brought a AEB head and block out of a Passat I'm only after the head, but everything is there under the bonnet so my question is do I need anything else from the Passat for the head to go on my S3..

thanks in advance day

Remember to change the camshaft sensor pickup on the belt end of the inlet cam, the AEB cam only has one window whilst the S3 has 4. Simple job, just a 13mm bolt.

Also if your S3 is AMK/BAM then youll need the cam chain tensiober also as the AEB head is non VVT

Im buying a aeb head next week, is the chain tensioner hard to fit?

Nope piece of pee, theres a few guides on the net but i just followed elsawin for removing cams. You only have to remove the inlet cam caps. Youll need a chain tensioning tool though, got mine from GSF for £4! Theres a little bit of info in my thread

Hi all

I manage to get hold of a AEB & AGU cylinder head, I know they are both similar which one do you recommend i keep for my Audi S3 AMK 2001...

AEB 110,000 MILES
AGU mileage unknown and needs a woodruff key

thanks day

Random, but did you get aeb head from guildford? I would use aeb.

No mate i got it from Northampton and the AGU from Bolton....but i did ring one on ebay and he was in guildford/Surrey but it was sold..

thanks day

I'd use the AGU.... It's designed to be transverse.

All in all though, it really won't make a squirt of difference.
