On tha avant b6 is there meant to be 1 or 2?

1 on mine although it looks like you can put one in on the other side although I'm not sure if the wiring is there.
Probably like that so it can go in the other side for left hand drive cars

Ah I was wondering as car is in for mot on Monday and when I checked it only had one on the right so was wondering what the other side was for.

They only put one on to make the rear of the car asymetrical when foglights are on, as some (not very clever) people mistake them for brake lights when there's two !
