Polishing the door trim

I want to machine polish my a3, but a little concerned about doing the door trim.

Is it best to leave alone and hand polish this, or give it a really quick going over with somthing like a 4" spot pad?

Hi there,

Which part of the trim do you mean? The painted plastic strip along the middle? It should be fine to polish this as normal, the paint will be the same as the rest of the car.

What polish/pad combo are you using?

as above but just bear in mind that you get around four times the pressure from a polisher on a corner! as in the edge of the door mould, mirror,wing top etc!! paint will be polished off easy, just go steady you will be fine

yeah the bit that goes along the middle. was a little concerned with various warnings about going over edges of bodywork/paintwork.

i got the full range of menz pads and polish at my disposal
