Hi guys,

Having a bit of a issue with the S4 and was wondering if anyone could help. Went out for a drive last night and after about 20mins I pressed the clutch to drift pass someone in the car park. Car then died as if I had stalled. Turned off & back on and it would just crank but not start. All electrics still worked and had half a tank of fuel left. It'd crank for 10-20secs at a time but still not start.

Left the car for 10mins and it would start but only run for a couple mins before seeming to get hot and die again. Ended up leaving it for an hour so cool enough so I could get back.

I'm guessing its some kind of temp sensor thats broken and kicking in to cut the engine but googling this morning doesn't seem to bring anything up. Any ideas what I need to look for or what sensor it may be? I've a vag com coming over later so that should help narrow it down but fancied getting some prices & advice from anyone thats had it before

Cheers,
Andy

maybe your maf sensor i had this problem with my old car just a thought mate

cheers, just had the vag com on it and got the following codes

16815/P0431/001073 - Warm Up Catalyst; Bank 2: Efficiency Below Threshold
16705/P0321/000801 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Implausible Signal
16706/P0322/000802 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal

Looks as if i need to replace the engine speed sensor then :)
