The mot's expired, driver side suspension needs attention (Clicking ball joints) passenger side front damper may need replacement, starts ok but takes several turns (several not hundreds) Tickover erratic. Needs a good clean inside and out.
Thats the bad points!

My central locking has failed, the pump has been running on for sometime but not knowing anything about the system I put it down to the boot lock opening and closing while the ignition was turned on
Should have asked on here but a little late now.
Having no central locking for a while is no...
Whats the value of my 96 B5 1.6.
Red,87k, 9 months MOT, lots of receipts, cam belt done, 1.8t wheels, jvc HU with 12 disk changer, couple of scrapes but generally in reasonable condition for year.
Can anyone recommend an alternative wheel for a 95 1.6 B5
I think they must have taken the standard wheel from a schooner.
If I adjust it so my knees don't connect with it every time I change gear my arms and shoulders ache
Any ideas?
My engine doesn't tick over very smoothly, with the rev's rising and falling by about 200 rpm.
Also under hard acceleration it miss's slightly.
Do you think a set of plugs/leads a distributor cap and new rotor arm would sort it.

Thanks
I think I have a poltergeist in my car
When I first got the car I found that if I sat in the car without the engine running I would hear a noise from the rear of the car that sounded like either the fuel flap solenoid or the boot lock trying to close/open (this may have been happening with the...
I doubt I'm the first to say this but.......WTF Don't owners grease there wheel bolts when replacing tires etc
Friggin bolts are made from soft cheese
****
There, thats better!
This may sound a little strange to some of you but I'd like to fit a pair of larger diameter wheels to my A4 (on 15's at the moment)
Nothing odd about that you say
Well as moneys tight I'm looking at picking up a set of steel rims from a breakers etc and fitting covers
Did any A4's come with...
I've read somewhere on this forum that some A4's have sockets built in to the wiring loom for foot well lights
Anybody know if the 95 B5 1.6 has this facility?
If not, would someone tell me where the control unit for the interior light is please?
Would it be safe to switch a relay via the...
When choosing parts I often see that there are variations on components, which I can understand, but all for the same year?
How do I identify whether my engine type is ADP, ADL etc
I've read several posts on here regarding this issue
I've found the previous owner has not cleared the water from around and under the battery compartment, you all know the results
The problem I have is that there's so much rust I cant see where the drain is suppose to be.
Does anyone have a...
I know how the spring and damper works but what do all the control arms etc do?
Are they there just to keep the hub level or do they also alter the shock characteristics like a rising rate system found on motorcycles?
A link to an article would be great
Thanks Jarvis
Which parts should I grease regularly On my bikes I've always removed bolts and copper slipped them to prevent them seizing, are there any bolts prone to seizing that I should consider lubricating? I read somewhere on this forum that the suspension arm ball joints can have their service life...
I'm replacing the tatty gear change boot, removing the old one was easy enough, remove gear knob and pull.
I assumed that the plasic retainer would be held in by clips but I guess that would be to easy
I've uncovered the two rear 8mm headed screws holding the rear of the console in place...
I've noticed my A4 had its cam belt changed at 75k but there's no mention of the water pump on the receipt
From what I've read on the forum this should have been changed at the same time, and considering the extra cost of replacing it later, I don't know why it wasn't

Now I...
I've been looking through the receipts the previous owner gave me with the car and I've come to the conclusion that A4's seem to go through suspension components, brakes etc at an alarming rate with the previous owners spending a fortune keeping the car in a road worthy condition.
Question is...
I'd like to clean my standard alloys up
There's a fair amount of corrosion so I'm going to have to take them back to bare metal.
The cars a 95 1.6 Saloon
A couple of questions
What is the standard coating?
Is the centre cap made from the same material as the wheels?
Has anybody used...
