Hi,
I had some KW adjustable bars, one snapped on me.......the bolt sheared in half...NICE. Send them back for a refund if you can...not worth the potential issues they can cause.
I now have some of S3Daves stainless ones, and from the looks of the quality and the size not even Chuck Norris...
You can buy the stuff yourself for about £25, or get garage to do it.....I helicoiled my dog bone threads as they were wearing out...once done they are stronger than original......garage will charge about £30-£40....easy job on ramps, easyish on axle stands.....I like tools so bought the stuff...
To cut a long story short one of my KW adjustable tie bars snapped at the adjustment bolt a while back whilst trying to free it up for alignment...Very Bad. Getting some of S3Daves stainless one to replace it. Car has been up on supports for 10 days now : (
On checking the rose...
Take them to a local garage/mechanic, I did the front ones (v.easy) and had the rears pressed in by local garage....£5, used a HUGE press to do it, mine were superpro though, might be easier/harder than OEM to do, not sure.
Don't think you have much luck with a bench vice.....give it a good...
Its ok, just have to make sure that the new rack bush is seated properly, very tight fit...I used a g clamp on the pas bolt above, worked a treat. I also left the driver side arb bolt loose, this allowed for a little movement. Everything else was ok'ish. Good luck.
I did my subframe (tt one of ebay) and new poly bush on rack and all felt good until my rear tie bar snapped. Clonk had defo gone.....I will report back once i get a replacement bar/new bars sorted for rear. Hopefully my clonk will stay gone. Subframe change on the driveway is a pain though.
Hi,
Just in case you are about to buy some KW adjustable tie bars....DONT!
Went for an alignment after changing some rear bushes yesterday. Rear kw bar was seized up so could not complete alignment. To cut along story short the bar was removed and the adjustable thread part of the bar...
I ordered a superpro steering rack bush on sunday and it arrived today from c&r enterprises (just fitted it and waiting on new subframe to arrive).....could always do that and send the other one back when it arrives.
