Had a few incidents today's track event. It started off as a very wet track, and gradually dried out, but still damp towards the end. Apparently the stock S3 can get its tail out rather easily, but the driver really has to be careful when wanting to correct it, or god forbid, attempt to change direction for the next corner.

I managed to countersteer a few times (even with the throttle planted on some cases) and the car sorted itself out. For that brief moment, the male ego is inflated.

However, twice it backfired, the rear end twitched, and it sways side by side like a fish tail (tankslapper equivalent for cars?). The pros said I'm overcompensating too much in that case, but I just did it instinctively. To be honest, my brain isnt fast enough to digest the situation. Was just hoping to stay on track and not hit anything.

Good news is that I'm finally faster than a civic type R!!! :arco:
The way the 4wd cars leave them for dead on the exits of the tighter corners is not even funny.

Anyone care to share some wet track experience?

Oh btw, 400whp evo 9 on Moton clubsport suspension = awesome. That thing corners like a roller coaster, accelerates like an injured beast, and yet, is quite comfy over the kerbs.

Sounds like you had a good time! Is that the silly quick white Evo 9 I always see at combe (And left for dead by)?

i could never get the back end out on my black stage 2+ S3 ever without lift off oversteer ! had a full set of PS2's on though, what tyres are you running ?
tyres on mine just now are conti 3s and it comes out without trying their pretty lethal in the wet, granted it has more power than the stage 2+ though but still i think with the right tyres and the stock haldex system you shouldnt be snaking out of corners  not with the amount of power transfered to ze rear :aggressive:

PS: the evo sounds cool one of the things on my list to chase ;)

No way to get a stocks tail out easy...absolutley NOT POSSIBLE!!!

Depending on the tyres,I'd dispute that!....mine was easy enough from stock on Bridgestone 050s.

You talking RE50's? If so I would not call them 'bad'! Had those as boots on me Civic Type R FD2 - ***** in the wet and when they are cold - granted - but give em a bit of heat and a dry road - sticks like ***** to a bear's ***

Fwiw, I was on the stock tyres (re050A), track was Sepang, and it was a heavy rain.
Try watching F1 or motoGP on Sepang when it's raining?

Tyres are almost gone now, have about 15k miles on them already, so the water dispersion aint the best either.

And the Civics are the new FD2R, not the tamed down versions you guys get ;)

Well.....I can only say that compared to Goodyear F1 Assymetrics, these are amongst the worst "performance tyres" I've ever had.

Ditto, had RE050A's, have F1's :applaus:
well iv just bought 2 of these and will get another 2 soon...thanks for the extra confidence guys thats great ;) my mates 280hp cupra R doesnt spin the wheels up in the wet in 2nd gear with these on and i was amazed so bought them after that and a quick read up and a rating against PS2's the PS2's were just too expensive for 19s and the F1 was actually rated slightly better !!
