£1350 quid includes windows and lights and everything being removed prior to spraying.......

Cant wait to get her boooked in, no colour change just a tidy up!

Well known accident repair centre near mine 'Elco' recommended by word of mouth, price started at £1500 but a bit of haggling got it to £1350

I was quite ****** before i got price first thing guy said to me was ...

" what ya done pet?"

assuming i'd had some sort of crash and clearly couldn't drive in a straight line but then he quoted me happy and i let him off haha!!!

That does sound a little cheap.

Is the place that is doing the job known to you? Do you know the quality of their work? If they are then great. I hope to see picture of your new 'sparkling' paint work soon.

Many moons ago I had a Mk1 Golf GTi resprayed and when you get it back from the bodyshop it's like getting a new car. I'm sure you're anticipating the cars return with excitement.

Good luck.

Yeah they were recommended by word of mouth, i got a few quotes al between £1000-1500. However 'Elco' went into detail about removing everything and stripping car down before painting instead of just masking it off!

Thats definitely the way to go if you want a professional job that will last. Masking is never going to get the same results.

Well if everyone is quoting around that price then I guess that's the price of the job. I just thought it would be more. Sounds like you've done your research so you should end up with a car that feels 'brand new' again.

Looking forward to seeing the finished results, although possible not as much as you are.

Always worth popping down during the job to see how its going, and that the work they mentioned doing is being done how they claimed it would be!

Take a few pics too so you can update us on it :)

thats a very good price.
I got quoted £3000+VAT, but there a very top quality professional firm who are rated very highly in performance/modding mags

I didnt consider them cause i knew they would want silly money but one of the accident repair places i went used to paint cars for citroen so its not always well known places that do best job...........how do i know this:

When working as car sales woman crashed a band new citroen C5 on the forecourt just off the transporter still had all the plasti cs on it OOPS haha..........had to get it fixed before the customer realised, i swear you wouldnt believe what goes on, customer thought he was getting brand new car little didnt he know i crashed it and it had to get new door and trim!! So yeah i know that although im sure colebrook are good, theres plenty of others who are too especially making cars look like new :icon_thumright:

Why i love the colour it is now?? You will all learn to love and appreciate my Snot!!

Go for the white respray that was mentioned in that other thread....would match ur interior aswell!

I wonder what Colebrook & Burgress would quote for the same job. By any chance did you consider them when shopping for quotes?

Rob :)
I got a quote on both front wheel arches/wings before I managed to claim off my warrany and C&B reckoned it would have been around £600 :(. So full respray would have been silly money. Im still not 100% sure they did a good job, Ive noticed quite a few specks of black paint but can realy proove it was anything to do with them.

Indeed. For any non-warranty work I use a good sprayer whom is close to home (he sprays a lot of the Subaru's base colour - the infamous blue, prior to having stickers and decals clad onto them) he ain't necessarily cheap....but cheaper than the likes of C&B. Also he tells me stories of people that have bumps and the likes of. They strip BRAND NEW cars down to prep and it's revealed that they have been bodged with filler and the likes of! The customer would never know! Shocking! :asskicking:

Warranty - my car is having some work done to it and C&B are doing it. I have used them before and their work was fantastic (as expected mind you). I inspected the work a great deal before leaving - couldn't fault it. I hope the next lot of work is as good....I guess every sprayer can have a bad day, just like any other occupation. If not I'm sure they'd sort it out, I found them very allowing and helpful when dealing with them. Shame it's a bit of a PITA for me to get to and from them!

Fingers crossed!

i had my a3 resprayed from scratch. it cost me £2800. it was to repair the blow over spray it had before i bought it. whenever a garage uses masking tape, STAY AWAY. they need to strip everything properly, else the lakar on the paint will peel back where it has been masked at a later stage.

I bet our detailer could get your S3 looking like new without a respray Katy!

I was thinking something along the same lines Damian. With the work that places like polished bliss do etc. Save a few quid and if attempted by ones' self you could have all the gear to use again!

....who would you recommend in the North East Damian, or is it someone in DPM?

it doesn't seem that cheap...

I paid £950 for a full respray with a fair amount of bodywork on my old Vento

I havent read this thread but i would never respray a car which already has decent paintwork. My S3 is almost 6 years old the paintwork is in excellant condition although there is a few stone chips & scratches here & there, i dont think its worth spoiling what good paintwork i have by getting an all round worse quaility complete paint job. I would repray the effected areas where possible such as bumpers etc. Of course its your choice but thats my opinion of it.

Also i personnaly think you will never as good paint job as a factory one. Compare your current Audi paintwork to a vauxhall or ford. Your ll find your audi has no orange peel

take a look here....tons of info on this site.

Also take a look at Chris3's car.....it be lovely!

Cheers, I was just about to mention that detailling would be a good alternative. Have a look at these to see what it can do...

Polished Bliss Vs my S3 - Take two

Polished Bliss, An Audi S3, and 5 coats of Vintage.

Unfortunately the original 'before' photos have been deleted off the server, but believe me, my car looked bad before the Polished Bliss guys started working on it.

Saved a few...

Yep I had a similar encounter...the bodyshop said they'd get it looking really good and it looked **** 190 he said and when payday came he added VAT on top!!! not a big price but the tailgate wasn't touched as I'd had some scratches took out and them ******* put the s3 badge in the wrong place! I wonder if there are any ******* who can do a good job out there?

chris how much did you pay to sort your car out, I have looked through your posts before and never found a price.

£30 an hour. Plus a little extra to get the Zymol Vintage instead of the Carbon. My car was pretty bad so it took about 16 or 17 hours for the correction detail.

ouch, thats pricey, but you do get what you pay for, and those results might even add 500 quid to the resale value!!

IMO dont have your car repainted unless its really bad, as it can open up a whole can of worms

for £500 you're car can looks even better IMO, plus it's still covered under the Audi Corrosion Warranty.....

Not that bad then
I was looking at something similar.

I seriously doubt anyone could sort out the stone chips on my bonnet though :(

Build the layers of paint then lacquer up in the chip with a touch up paint until its slightly proud of the surrounding paint level. then with some soaked 2000 grit or higher w&d paper gently rub the high spot down to the surrounding level. after this finish of with some abrasive polish by PC or rotary polisher to take out the sanding marks.

obviously thats just a quick over view but you get the idea.

I wouldnt be able to fix it although if you can suggest someone in th midlands that could dor a good job I would be all ears.

Most good detailers will do you a panel free of charge before taking on the detail so you can see how good they are and justify the cost. Also have a good look around there own car, if they're enthusiasts theirs will be mint. If there looking for an easy payday will be crap.

Of course if they did do a good job, you would have to get the whole car done, or one panel would be BLING! and the rest dull, and it would be pretty sad to leave it that way...
