TT-RS

No idea, but I wouldn't tell them that. All features should work for 36 months, but apparently if you ask nicely they will give you an extra year, you need to buy data for the hot spot, or have an audi fail in your favour ;)

An extra year on top of the 36 months? I know I managed to get an extra year on the 12-months free with my S3.

I don’t think I’d pay past any free period, I’ve literally never used Audi Connect and isn’t worth the fuss?? Maybe I’m missing out on his uses?...

Yes mate, that’s what I was told. And I don’t use much of it. But having google earth as the sat nav is superb!!

Ah bu*ger that’s a reason I’d need it, haha. Forgot about that using internet, was just thinking of Audi Connect.

Going back a few months there was news that VAG group are stopping Google Earth due a lack of licence renewal in the cars, I hope this doesn’t happen.

Traffic updates (think this is part of Audi Connect) and being able to send locations from Google Maps Desktop to my car are the only things I use it for..
Don't use Google Earth view though, don't think it adds any value. - wouldn't be bothered if it went away.

Well I'm baffled in that case. As soon as I go into Audi Connect in the settings it says to insert SIM. I'll run it round to the local dealer at some point.

On a separate note, I just tried two launch controls. It makes one hell of a noise when holding the revs, louder I would say than the PFL RS3 at this point. However, both times I suffered excessive wheel spin. It is quite greasy out but I would have expected more traction. I'll have to try on a dry day. Also found that going round some twisty roads that the back end wanted to drift out. It's certainly more rear biased.

I'm having the same issue with Audi Connect, as soon as I go into Audi Connect is says to insert SIM, is a SIM card needed to use the Audi connect? Isn't it possible to connect to my phone? I couldn't insert my car PIN into the Audi Connect since it only asks for the PIN with no other options. Did you manage to understand this?

Yes, managed to use my phone/wifi which got Google earth working. It then didn't seem to need to be connected to the phone again, almost like it had downloaded Google maps for my immediate area. Was a right pain to set up, however.

Car has had a rare wash today. Got to say that Nardo is a great colour for never looking too dirty. Highly recommended for those that don't like washing their cars!

Yes mate, standard spec here, and it is listed with the 36month subscription...

https://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/...celists/TTRS-Coupe-And-Roadster-Pricelist.pdf

Your sales guy is like most and clearly know the square root of f all. Sim should be embedded in factory and just need activating, if go into the settings you will find data module, turn this off and back on and it should activate (could be a glitch that it says insert sim)

TT's are a different feel to the A3 base. Glad you're enjoying it though and definitely have to try on a dry day, although good luck finding one lol.

Not understanding why your dealer does not have this all sorted out for you.
Just collected my new FL RS3 two weeks ago and it was active, one of the other salesmen got into the car and set-up all my Audi Connect stuff, got my phone connected with all the Apps available as well.

Some dealers get away with murder.

TTRS does not get the embedded SIM 36 month subscription like the RS3 does. You need to either tether your phone for Audi connect or buy your own SIM.

There are a few options, 3 have a 12gb 12 month SIM for £27 which gives 1gb a month. EE has a 6gb 12 month SIM for £17 which gives 500mb a month.

To be honest, the only worthwhile thing you need data for is google earth and weather/traffic. Novelty of using everything else soon wears off.

TTRS doesn’t have the illuminated door sills either but does have the Audi-Sport door beams. I suspect the facelift TTRS soon incoming will have the 36 month subscription and the illuminated door sills.

Strange one but the TTRS has a better reversing cam, the resolution seems to be much clearer in the TTRS than the RS3 but not sure whether that’s down to being integrated into the VC in the TTRS whereas it’s in the pop up screen in the RS3. One of the first things I noticed stepping from one into the other.

Hi mate, the spec sheet for the TTRS says '36 months Audi Connect Subscription?'

Does look the business... I think figures wise it’s maybe a rival, but going off looks, they are very different in my eyes so will draw in different people

Yes, just checked, it does indeed say that in the brochure but after picking up mine and scratching my head to its whereabouts and then asking the same question on the TT forum, I got the impression that none of the cars had the 36mth subscription and that owners had to buy the data SIMS separately. Unless the brochure is wrong or is applicable only for the new MY19 cars, I don’t know. Mines is a November 2017 car and had to buy a data sim for mine. Was a PITA having to tether iPhone just to get google earth maps.

All good in my November 2017 RS3 saloon though, worked straight away with the 36mth subscription.

Strange one.

Ugly as **** though.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the M2 looks mega. Although I'm very disappointed with that...looks basically the same as a standard M2

Not a fan of the wheels nor that paint choice, but having seen a few with carbon side shirts and spoilers, they look v nice

Each to their own yes. Saw another one today and it just looks weird, too short generally, too wide at the back + nasty front end. Ttrs on the other hand ...

Very strange bud, but if the brochure says it, and says it as standard, then i'd be going down to Audi getting them to reimburse you for your outlay!

I had the mk3 TT tdi ultra and had to buy a data sim for that, that was a 15 plate.

Embedded SIM is only standard in newer S and RS products mate.

hmmmmmm.....M2 competition has de-tuned M4 engine = +50kg's upfront for that "little beast".....lets see what they say when they drive it
also wouldn't want to be owning an M4 right now after BMW did that.....anyone know when FL TT(RS) is coming out or seen pics?

Just seen a Nardo TT RS, all I’ve got to say is, I bet you’re glad you’ve got the black pack on yours mate... really not a fan of the one I seen without it

Black pack makes a big difference to the look of the car. I can't think of a better looking car at its price point right now. All subjective of course.

I like how the TT-RS looks from the front and back but not from the side. The curved roof contradicts the rest of the car's aggressive image. I guess the roadster with the roof down fixes that. Like in this image for example:

Or compared to the GTR:

TT RS roadster with the roof down though :thumbs up::thumbs up:

awesome purchase!
congrats!
would love to go this route myself....definitely the best RS of the bunch I think at the mo

Agreed best looking cars in the Audi range are the ttrs and rs3 saloon. ttrs looks great too and is usable every day, it makes r8 seem almost pointless especially if you stage 1 the ttrs

I drove the TTRS and R8V10+ back to back at a track day. I'm only average driving ability but there didn't seem to be much of a difference to me and the others there.

If I could justify having 3 cars, I'd buy one in a flash.

I bet that V10 sounded a little more epic, though!

From inside the car - definitely with the V10 shrieking over your shoulder. I also drove the RS6 performance and inside the car was a bit like hearing a earthquake happening around you.

What was your pick of the bunch?

What was your pick of the bunch?

Disappointingly they didn't have the FL RS3 (only PFL which I had owned already) which I had wanted to try. On balance though it would have to be the TTRS.

I came back ready to put a deposit down (and would just be getting it now) but my Golf R was targeted by thieves so I never went ahead.

I'll look again later this year at used or maybe the TTRS+ if that arrives.

I was told that Audi had to hold the TT back pre-production as it was too close to R8 performance.

Given the choice, at the same price, personally it would be an R8 everytime... but that’s the difference, price wise, the TT appeals to far more people and is accessible to far more people

R8 is twice the price. Whether it's twice the car, I'd need to drive it to give an opinion. But if willing to take a chance on the warranty you can obviously stage 1 the TTRS for next to nothing and then it would be very close to an R8 performance wise.

I'm loving mine at the moment. The handling is a giant leap on from my PFL RS3. Also getting a bit more used to the noise.
