Is this possible , was checking it there, can see where the wire will go through the rubber housing tube but it seems to be a fitted unit blocking the space entering the body of the car , can tie be removed to allow a cable pass through ?

Not sure if it will go through , the wiring is attached to a to a unit and that is clipped into the body

Yes I managed to put audio cable through that connector. Had to cut it a bit.

@audibhoy11 - what are you looking to do, why do you need to run the wire through?
I’ve an idea for retro fitting puddle lights , I have a cable that I am using to power the footwell lights ( tapped into he dome light ,I’m now going to tap into that wire and run a cable from it to the puddle lights I’ve ordered

I would be interested in this as well, many people seem to have repaired the wires that break inside the boot. I am sure there must be a way of getting that connector out to get to the loom inside the pillar?

Why not connect the puddle lights to the factory points within the door modules?

Trying to avoid vcds as there is no one locally that can do it, not sure mine has the modules as this will be a complete retrofit, I’ll have to cut the space for the units

Im interested in doing this as well as my S3 doesnt come with any lights in the door as standard unfortunately. Where would you connect the wires to that feed the light with power when you open the door though ???

I retro fitted footwell lights ( ran a cable from the dome light to the footwells and added a led strip so I’ll tap into that and run wires into each door

Depending on your model of S3 all modules will be in the door for the puddle lights (the same module powers the door, windows, mirrors) and for the footwell lights the CEM module you need to connect to is up under the dash (above your feet). You’ll need VCDS to activate.

I would advise wiring puddle lights to the door modules, as long as your car has electric windows (which all front doors have) it's really straight forward and easy.

Can always be activated via VCDS at a later date when you come across someone with it, if anytime you're in Birmingham I'd be willing to activate for you that's not a problem

It’s not going to work without the vcds is it ?

Only thing about you being in Birmingham is that I’m in Ireland

Aye you could be right but only trying to save you a big wiring job . Best doing it the door card way then just get the activated when out for a Drive .

Appreciate that, going to try and It the simple way and then invest in a vcds laptop to do it properly !! , there will be plenty more questions and queries !! So be prepared

Right managed to get a cable through as a tester bit fiddly but got it through, going to tackle it as soon as the lights arrive and I’ll take a few photos to show anyone that’s interested , I will be getting a vcds laptop as I don’t think the cables and software are compatible with apple products so it will be done properly eventually
