Can you take some pics of the tabs you need to remove when you do it please? :)

Sure mate, i can take some pics.

Its just minimal work Zeeshan told me.. just the outer edges left & right will need to be secured with screws, since the 2 tabs (you remove dont line up) and the screws will take over the job of the 2 missing tabs.

So my GPS aerial packed in last week.......didn't fancy paying £95 for a new one so bought a £5 Ebay jobby which arrived today :)

So it was time for some driveway tinkering in the dark lol

It was only 5 bolts to drop the glovebox out and thanks to @B5NUT 's diagrams in another thread, removing the MMI unit was a doddle. I have plugged the aerial into the back of the unit and then located it above the glovebox

Did a quick test on the drive and it was picking up 8 satellites. The proof will be in my journey tomorrow to see how well it performs :)

Well , the plugplay and easy fit , small modification was the biggest ******** ever.... fitment sucked titties.... bought a normal bumper , fitment was a bit better.. dropped that one off at the bodyshop and the diffuser , and had them work their magic to get it fitting.
My paintguy even told that for that kind of money you should expect plugplay fitment.

If id known this before i would have NOT bought the rear diffuser

S6 diffuser is a straight plug and play fit guys. You can do the twin exhaust thing with that ala S6 look.

Nothing to report other than I've now clocked up 20,000 miles in the A6 since last January

Long term average is around the 34mpg mark. Got to say it makes for depressing reading sometimes the mileage and how much I have actually spent but the comfort and performance more than make up for it :)

Hoping to find a day to have another go at sorting the paintwork as it's starting to look a little flat again

Long term I'm tempted to fit a Wagner intercooler and also look to get some more sound out of the engine; for a V6 its just too quiet!!

That's it really

Might cost a bit to get the acive exhaust and then get sound module and you could get some great sounds from that engine,

Probably need a strait through exhaust for that last one and those wheel arches aren't required :p

Yeah I looked at the active exhaust system but that's well out of my budget lol

I was simply looking at getting a cat-back system with a smaller back box to at least release some sound.

Boring update alert

Have now clocked up nearly 25,000 miles since taking ownership and have just fitted my 3rd set of tyres........have gone for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetic 3’s.

The Michelins were ok but that fact they cost me nearly £800 and lasted LESS than the UniRoyals I had before means they were very poor value for money :(

Gone for the Goodyears as Costco had an offer on and it worked out about £50 between them and the UniRoyals so I shall see how they fare. First impressions are they are a very quiet tyre :)

In other news I’ve had my mapped tweaked quite substantially and the difference is very noticeable :)

So the wagon passed the 100k miles mark just before Christmas and then coming up to its two year anniversary with me left me stranded on the side of the road......and wouldn’t start!!

Cause - no1 injector had had enough of life and bit the dust....£265 plus labour later and I picked it up this afternoon. First impressions are how much smoother it seems to be

I just hope the other 5 aren’t in the mood to give up on life just yet!

Had 1 injector go. But car still ran . Replaced and all seemed ok but on a run it would dither in any mode other than sport.

Fingers crossed.

Yes it was your thread that I found when looking for similar symptoms to mine. I've driven it in both drive and Sport and (fingers crossed) all seems fine..........

Forgot to add that before Christmas someone reversed into my whilst my car was parked in work....

Thankfully I managed to convince her to pay for a new grille as I couldn't be doing with the hassle of going through the insurance even though it was her fault

So today marks 2 YEARS's of A6 ownership!!!

I have now covered 28,000 miles
33mpg is the long term average
On the 3rd set of tyres
2 services
1 complete set of brakes
1 fuel injector.........

The A6 continues to impress with its all round, all-weather capabilities. I took it across some of my favourite roads over Christmas in some atrocious conditions and the A6 didn't bat an eye lid. I chickened out long before the car came close to it's limits. One criticism I would have, and I had it with my A3, is the steering lacks just that level of detail and feedback when pushing on. It's sometimes hard to tell if the car is going to grip or not. Other than that, for a 2.5 tonne Avant its fairly chuckable; also had great fun doing donuts in the works car park when it snowed :D

In terms of modifications within the last 12 months.....I did treat myself to an Rs grill which totally changed the look of the car. And then someone changed it again when they reversed into me and cracked it just before Christmas so I've had 2 in the space of 12 months!!

In October I had the map tweak so the car should be pushing over 300bhp (up from approx 285ish). Normally in such a big car with such a small increase, the difference can be hard to notice, but not with this! It picks up a little bit sharper and the top end past 3000rpm is very very strong indeed. Has the extra power contributed to the failed injector? Jury is out on that one seeing as injectors fail when standard so the fact it coped with an extra 60bhp for a few thousand miles is admirable. Age plays a part as the car has clocked over 101,000 miles.

What's in store for the next 12 months? I really would like a Wagner Intercooler so need to try and save my pennies for one of them. I still need to give the car a full on paintwork correction session as I simply haven't had the time to spend a couple of days on it.

Other than that I'll continue to enjoy it for what it does :)

Another update, another ‘some idiot hit my car post’

Dropped my daughter off at school, coming out and an idiot in a Corsa pulls out of the housing estate into the front wing......

What a bummer! Hope you haven't had time to do the paint correction. New bumper and wing or just the wing?

Nope! Been waiting for the better weather......

New wing and new headlight as its cracked right at the bottom. Bumper can be taken back and resprayed

The wing can be repaired but as the other party is a student it’s going to be an insurance job so new parts it will be.....

It's very similar to the damage I did to mine last year when hitting a tree stump. Insurance claim was close to 3K, new bumper, wing, headlight plus labour.

Headlight alone is over £900 !

I thought it was steep but not that!! I had estimated about £600......

It’s all going through the insurance so I’ll have all new and hopefully get the bonnet and possibly the other side done whilst its in if i chuck a few quid to the bodyshop :)

Luckily the bumper is intact so can get away with stripping it back and re-painting

Just a pain as I was looking forward to spending a few days next month sorting the paintwork

Although I guess I’ll have less to do

Lucky is not an LED or matrix light, they are £1800 - £2300!

Yes, just not worth the time money & hassle + you would never get that money back when you come to sell the car.

So the A6 finally went into the bodyshop this week to have the accident damage repaired......I’ll see it in 3 weeks apparently!! I have a courtesy car which is a 2018 Mercedes C220. It’s well specced but god is the engine and gearbox coarse and unrefined.....

Prior to the A6 going in for the repairs it developed a juddering ing in 5th, 6th, and 7th gesr under load. My initial thoughts were another injector about to bite the dust.....the garage however found that

Both rocker cover gaskets were leaking
Recommended that all injector seals and boots? are replaced
And found a crack in the turbo intake pipe
:(

The car will be going straight in for the engine work once I have it back from the bodyshop

Crikey Rhyso - that sounds expensive - sorry to hear that - hope the repairs go well.

Martin
