As said above by @Johnoz the car was probably a dealer order for stock and when you came in they adjusted the order to what you want. That car was as he said always going to be built at that time - it was just a question of if it was the dealer spec or a customer spec.

Consider yourself lucky that you found a dealer with one on order with a build date not far away that could be changed in time - and once again this proves the whole “dealer isn’t honest with customer” side because they don’t explain if the order is totally new or a modified order.

My original order placed in August and only this morning still being built has indeed now left the factory - a day slower - than I expected but it son the way.

I now have a VIN which means I can add it into my Audi as my car and mess about with the options there (not that it lets me do much but its something else to keep my busy while I wait).

This is at https://my.audi.com/ - unfortunately my VIN isn’t on the system yet so I will keep trying.

As for the JSON @Callump01 this has been covered many, many times and quick search would bring it up but all you do is log in and then open a new tab and go to the following address and type in your order number at the end (where I have put ‘yourordernumber’)

If it says error or not allowed just log in again and try again.

Where did you get your VIN from? I’d you just ask your dealer for it?
 
was after a number plate before xmas from dvla RS03 CAR but some one Ford noob bought it and put it on .....Focus RS....eh????? moron

Use then JSON link and the VIN (once the car is built) is at the bottom of the page on the second or last line of code.

I still can’t add mine yet to myaudi so will keep trying...

Yeah dealer estimates 17th Feb it will be with them, will be collecting 2nd march if all goes to plan!

So if you download the my Audi mobile app you can see if they specced your car correctly!

My VIN is now working so I did that. Lol that the app has confused the optional and standard equipment and got them the wrong way round. Also the service part on the site let’s you see the manual.

If I had a focus rs the last plate I'd put on it is rs03

As for your stupid rs03 comment. Ok clever cloggs buy an rs3 plate then, there's one avaliable at a mere £86000. Most rs03 plates are £250. rs03 car was £999

I really still don’t get your thinking... and as for calling it stupid...:seenoevil::tearsofjoy: RS03 can’t go on an RS but can on the Audi, come on, get a grip and accept you lost out

I wasn't that bothered otherwise id have bought it months ago. I just thought was weird it ended up on an Focus RS, regardless of whether its a mark 3.

Anyway, what do you care.....unless of course you know them

In answer to your next question - it typically takes 10 days from leaving the factory to getting a boat. The next time the status updates it will be saying its on the boat. It is about 5 days from factory to port and then about 5 days to get a boat. But it can be sooner it can take longer. My car left the factory on the 19th - I expect to see it on a boat anytime from the 29th January. The boat literally takes a few hours and so the status will change to arrived in UK next day after (unless its over the weekend in case it takes longer to update; but Audi CS chat will confirm its arrived for you.). Then the speed it arrives at the dealer depends on the location of the dealer from the port and if they raise a transport order quickly. If the dealer is close by the car would arrive the same day that it leaves the port. Then its just up to the dealer to get it ready and do the paperwork, in my eyes 3 days is enough for that, any more they are taking the ****.

So in total the time from factory to you collecting it should be around 18 days (but could be faster or slower) so my car should be ready to collect around the 1st Feb as it left factory on the 19th Jan.

As you can see below 19 days from Stage 30 to collection.

My car is now showing Status 36. Which I have no idea what that means. 30 is left factory, 38 is at port, 39 on boat so what’s 36?

The JSON also looks weird:

As can be seen status 36 is on the overall status and not the individual status.

Update: Never mind. 36 means at port of exit - not released. i.e, not ready to be shipped yet. I would expect it to update very quickly to 38 - ready to be shipped - but typically the JSON doesn’t show status 38 until its on the boat and already at 39. I don’t know why I am seeing 36 myself as Ive never seen that.

I’ve never seen status 36 before. Not on my S3. And forum searches don’t bring it up either so I don’t know why its showing on my JSON- and as the overall status and not an individual update. It may be its rare that cars do not get cleared right away and so we don’t see 36. But maybe my car got stuck in a queue over night. Or maybe its a bug showing me that status.

What we do know is once at port its typically 5 days to ship; as an average. Some cars ship sooner; some ship later. Depending on when the next boat is to sheerness (in my case). I hope that maybe it will be on a boat this week which could *could with a massive optimistic time scale* mean I can collect the car next week.

I really regret checking my JSON now!

Massakhar Highway just left Emden bound for Sheerness and my excited little boy inside is hoping that my car is already on it - but I won’t know until after midnight tonight when the status updates IF it is on the ship.

Thames Highway left for Sheerness around 3pm today as well. That is very rare two vehicle boats from Emden the same day.

I’m not sure when the next ship is to Sheerness after from Emden - maybe a while.

Yours will also be at the port - and if going to Sheerness may also be on a boat now. I tell you this I am not planning on waiting for an 18 plate now. Screw it... if it does arrive by the start of February (assuming the dealer doesn’t want more money from me) I am collecting it.

I'm on "30" now and I'm tempted to not wait for an 18 plate especially as my private reg is going on anyway.:laughing:
