Hi all.

I’m thinking about de-badging my S3.
Only the S3 badges front and back.
I’m a fan of the look on past cars but something in my head is saying not on this one.

Have any of you guys done it? Or would you leave it??

Cheers Johnny

You pay a premium for them little badges so why not keep them or get them in another colour

I like the de-badged look but I think when you get to S, RS etc leave them on

Was thinking of debadging the current S3 saloon as wanted to be under the radar as much as possible as my previous fully badged S3 Sepang SB got so much unwanted boy racer:white van man: polo boy and company car beemer 3 series attention it was driving me nuts.

But have found that the shape and colour (Floret Silver) of the Saloon is under the radar enough so am going to keep the little badges I paid so much for

Personally I’d keep them on, they sit well

Taking the badges off gives a cleaner look, for me at least, it's not about showing off or hiding the car you have.

Took mine off. I paid for the firepower under the bonnet, not the vanity badges on the back end.

Do you have a pic, be interested to see how that looks on Navarra?

I have debadged every car I have owned apart from M3 and S3.... for a reason. You pay for the badge lol. Keep em 100%.

With the likes of an S or RS, I leave them on.
Previous cars such as A4 and A5, I've removed the engine badges like 2.0 TFSI.
I'd never remove the Audi rings either.

Is that a TDI A3?

Very nice.
Ha ha tbf it can be hard to tell without the badges! Perhaps coincidence but I don't seem to get hassled by Golf R drivers etc ;)

I asked the same question before ordering the A5, grabbed an Auto Trader pic to do a photo shop..makes the back look clean:

To badge or not

Oh....Really....lol so the the 4 Cannons at the back are a tad contradictory....A mean they say it all, far more than a wee badge does.......lol

at the moment i have black badges, both sets of rings and both S3 emblems.

i wil de-badge the black S3 on the boot BUT it'll be replaced with MRC badge when i go stage 2 (and later stage 3)

Think I’m going to remove the rear and that’s it

Funny told my wife I’m going to take the S3 off the back and she said “No, why would you do that, it looks so nice”
She has a point

I changed the red to blue which made it a bit more subtle.

I made them myself mate

Exactly the same here. I de-badged at the rear. If I ever replace the grille I will be completely de-badged

I’m not overly keen on those either. I took the chrome covers off back in March and they’ve been in a cupboard ever since. Blackened steel exhaust tips are much more subtle.

So I got round to removing the rear badge today.
Was a lot harder than I first thought. Took a lot of dental floss, lots of sticky stuff remover with a load of elbow grease.
Happy though.
Sorry didint get round to cleaning her after, ran out of time

much prefer debadged.
I think badges take us back to a time to the L/GL/Ghia corporate company car park wars and judging other people by the badge on their car. In this example if you don't know what an S3 is then a badge won't help you, if you do know what an S3 is then you will already know it is an S3 and don't need a badge. But hey, as per many of these threads it's your car and your views so do what the 'eck you like :)

Going way back (I am quite old) I always liked manufacturers who would put the more powerful motors with the lesser specs making fast cars more accessible rather than the current trend of more powerful motors only sold with 'premium' versions.

Interested to see GSB's picture also, my 3yr old tips are as clean as the day I got the car and sometimes think they look way too blingy for a 2l four pot.

Sorry if you have said so elsewhere but were they easy to do? You have done a great job and I suspect more difficult than it looks. Such a small but noticeable and tasteful change.

Have a vinyl cutter so once I had the template was as simple as pressing go on the cutting programme :grinning:

I guess I can see that de-badging gives a 'cleaner' look, but - on the whole - when I, for example, see a de-badged 3-series BMW, I automatically think 320d.......i.e. no chance it is a 340i or whatever.
Still, as others have said, the S3 is quite identifiable anyway :)
