To me that just sounds louder - but the standard isn't exactly quiet either!
You will note if you look close enough in your wheel pic the tyre is marked PZ4

Too late to delete the option now, but for sure listening to those two videos @AudiNutta posted there isn't a £1,000's worth of difference - Hell not even £100.............
Leo, I know I should've gone to Specsavers......... Where, which picture are you seeing PZ4 please?
Look at Audinuttas Catalunya pictures on the previous page and then click on the first wheel pic that is shown. It should bring up a much larger image where you can zoom in. The PZ4 is literally at the 12 o'clock position of the tyre just above the double spoke. If you find 2017 on the tyre, just to the right of that.
When did yours go into build ?Received a message to say the car has arrived, booked into detailers and collection on 01/09.
Dunes7, we shared the same build date, just checked mine and it's also at the panel shop stage
Yeah mine is in the panel shop too!! order date was 21/08/17.

Don't get me wrong the sports exhaust is louder. And sounds better but I am confident if I revved a non sports exhaust anywhere it would still be loud enough to hear and for everyone to look over at.
And considering the payments for a new car (and my negative equity on my current car) I have to think I should delete it and save that £1k.
(And if you really disliked having chrome tips I'm sure you could get them changed to look like the sports exhaust for far less).
It's with my sales guy as we speak. When he quoted, it was originally for £5k of options. I'm struggling to get it below £7k! I've left it with him but am seriously considering doing it. My current car is missing the pano roof and any new one will have to have it which is obviously ramping the cost up.@D0C the suspense is killing me, what are you going to do?!

The colour is a real difficult one, too. Leaning towards Daytona.
31/07/2017 - it went from build to shipping, literally overnight. When did yours go into build ?
Mine started 31/07. Left factory on 03/08. Been sitting at Emden on a code 38, waiting to go onto a ship for 2 weeks now. Getting impatient now lol
Wow one of the lucky ones. It really does seem a bit of a lottery once they get to Emden & how they are allocated shipment.31/07/2017 - it went from build to shipping, literally overnight.
Spinstorm, the Sports Exhaust is probably one of the must haves that people will look for when searching through the classifieds or a dealer offers you additional money for. You shouldn't see it as £1k wasted as at the other end it should be easier to sell for a higher premium. A lot of people will have the engine and exhaust noise as one of their main reasons for buying this car.
I do agree the normal exhaust sounds pretty sweet too mind you and £1k is a lot to justify though
I have placed an order without the sports exhaust, whilst I agree with what you said I don’t see myself selling this car for the entire PCP period. Why would I? It is fast and sounds great (even with a normal exhaust lol).
Well I and 90% of us on here wouldn't touch one without a sports exhaust. Go onto Audi Approved, majority of which have no sports exhaust. At the end of the PCP if your car is worth more than the GFV, you get that amount extra in cash... without the sports exhaust you're likely to get quite a bit less than somebody who hands one in with it.
Dealers won't favour taking one onboard without the exhaust.
You've sold your S3 after a short amount of time, you might want to sell this for the new RS4 next year
Well technically I haven’t sold anything yet - it’s due next March. And so plenty of time to change my mind. But if the pcp is finished who cares what happens? And I could always change the exhaust myself....
If the PCP finishes you still care about the residual value! As above, it will be worth more and you will get more cash in your pocket! The car will be worth more than the GFV if you look after it, so that's an incentive because you could get thousands coming your way when you hand it back!
If you change the exhaust yourself, you can't sell it or hand it back with an aftermarket exhaust, Audi will reject it. Note that most exhausts are close on £3k for a full system.
You can fit an OEM sports exhaust, but they are like rocking horse s*** to come by as we have learnt on here.
Plus, as far as Audi are concerned the spec sheet says you don't have one. Unless you get Audi themselves to fit a genuine, new part (dread to think of cost) then your warranty will also be void and they would decline to buy it having been modified. The cost of a genuine part, will probably be triple the original £1000 at least.
Can't speak 100%, but on the PFL the standard exhaust was less reluctant to pop and bang and only did very high in the range. The sports exhaust also changed the mapping on the ECU, so it popped and banged more! So you likely aren't just getting an exhaust, but different mapping for pops and bangs. Needless to say, Audi won't change any ECU mapping and any attempt to do so yourself, would void warranty. We are all totally governed by warranty.
Audi will only warrant changes if parts and labour is done by them. Really, if you can afford it... just tick it.
As we discussed in chat - the affordability is based on the value of my S3 and I won't know that for a while.
I don't know how the wait list works but I have plenty of time to make changes...
So I think I'm going to stick with my PFL. We can't quite make the figures work as well as I'd like, although the dealer has been very fair and has offered a good deal.
Part of the problem is that I still love mine (I've only had it 6 months!). I'm also not entirely convinced by the new front end on the FL (I really need to see a few in different colours in the flesh) and I'm not so sure that it sounds as good. Those wheel arch gaps are huge, too!
That said, if in the unlikely event they do come back to me agreeing to my numbers, then I'd probably go for it. It's faster, newer with fresh tyres/warranty and seems to handle much better, so it has a lot going for it.
However, taking mine out tonight, it truly is an unbelievable sound...loud, raw and totally unhinged when in Dynamic. And it looks stunning in Panther black so I'll be more than happy to keep hold of it!
