Hi guys.

Finally got rid of the S3...buyer was over the moon with it...but it was his first turbo car. We have a 2004 A3 Quattro Sport with the DSG box. The DSG box gets a lot of criticism but I gotta say, I couldn't change gear anywhere near as quickly or as precisely as it can so we're happy...for now.

My query today from you learned souls is whether an RS3 aftermarket exhaust will fit my 3.2...
RS3 Exhaust

It looks like it should but the bits just after the middle resonator have got me worried as the underneath of my car looks like this

A3 32 underside

I mean I know in theory, anything can be made to fit but was just wondering if them front flanges are compatible. I'm Googling the beejesusout of it as we speak but any advice from knowledgeable folks is much needed and gratefully received. Cheers everyone

That would sound terrible and drone like a b*stard on a 3.2 mate.

A little off topic but i fitted a remus exhaust on my 3.2. ****** brilliant bit of kit. there was a guy on here selling them but he was killed in a bike crash back in the day.

Oh how i miss that 3.2 !! 6 years of an S3 now and i still miss the 3.2 every time i drive the S3 :-(

The 3.2 cats are all part of the downpipe system so in order for it to fit you would have to cut the downpipes before the cats (just at the left of your pic underneath) and weld new flanges on to match up with the rs3 exhaust. Even then you won't know if the rs3 pipes will fit snugly underneath, if the hangers will be in the right place and if it will be the right length. In my opinion you should take it somewhere and get it done properly

Here's the downpipe/cat setup on the 3.2. You'd have to cut the pipes where I've put the red line and weld new flanges to match up with the ones on the rs3 setup.

Also I'm curious as to how the rs3 has two cats as I didn't think it was a V engine. The 3.2 has a cat for each bank of cylinders

ether
I know what you mean. I still have the 32 with a Milltek and the resonator deleted. The sound is just amazing. I was next to a 1st Gen R8 yesterday and we took off together and his sound was pitiful. Nothing in audi lineup beats the sound of a 32

@paddy he owned the performance company, they are still around and supply remus exhausts.

Yup he had a 3.2 himself and i am ashamed to say i can't remember his name.

Thanks for all the good info guys. When I had the 8L S3 there was a lot of haters because I was moaning about how slow they are as standard...That is a fact...power to weight ratio worse than a 1,9 205 GTI...but V6 owners seem to 'get it' for want of a better phrase. I don't want or need to do anything to my A3 to make it get down the road sharpish whereas my S3 was not much noticeably quicker than a 180hp A3 1.8T...but try telling people facts like that and sometimes it hurts. All I want is a bit more of a beefy sound from that lovely V6 and I would never buy another 4 cylinder Audi again...they shouldn't be made...you want 4 cylinders, buy a Golf and go to Bugjam with the rest of the more money than sense crew int heir T2s and 'splitties'. Talk about f*cking up a whole scene. The only people that own Split Screen campers now are mostly rich t*ats who bought their way into a scene people used to build their way into. Now they grow a beard, get a coupla sleeve tatoos and go to a company...give them £30,000 for something that has none of their personal stamp...and another splittie owner is on the road

Being an 80s child, the sound I associate with Audi is the 5 cylinder and one of my first cars was a 1981 Audi 100 5E when I was 21...looking back I must've looked a **** giving it the beans in a huge 4 door family saloon but the noise of that 5 cylinder made me feel like Stig Blomvquist:grinning:

That's the original and unrivalled Stig...man must be nearly 80 now and can still throw a car round like a boss

That's the Audis I remember...flame spitting monsters that dominated the Rally scene from the minute they hit the gravel. Not 4 pot compromised s*itboxes

I think thats the thing these 3.2's arn't sports cars but more like GT's , If you want power go V8 or IL turbo but for me I'm not chasing power just chasing the soundtrack.
