Hello
I replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor last week on my A4 2.0 Petrol engine and the 16500 Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Implausible Signal code went, yet the 17700 Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat (F265): Open Circuit remained

It's been a few days now and the temp gauge is working fine but when I scanned it again this morning the 17700 code is still there and the 16500 code has come back!!!!

I've cleared the codes and re-fitted the new temp sensor and this has made NO difference. I only have a basic scanner (U281 OBD-2 CAN-BUS Code Scanner) but I can still erase codes etc and don't have any issues with stubborn codes if I've replace the part/sensor in question

So i'm a bit stuck as to what is going on with it and why these two codes are being so stubborn, any ideas?!

As stated in a previous reply there are two coolant temp sensors, one is at the bottom radiator hose and controls the fans, could be this one throwing the code unless you fitted a pattern sensor, very often these are poor quality but appear to work for a short time only. The sensor has two parts one supplies the info for the gauge and the other supplies the info for the ECU, just to complicate things the gauge may work but the one for the ECU doesn't or vice versa.

You have a mapped coolant system which means the thermostat has a sensor built in which controls when it opens & closes. You need to replace the stat with a genuine part. Same applies for the CTS genuine part only as aftermarket CTS rarely work properly.

ok cool, so do I just need to replace the coolant temp sensor with a genuine part and you reckon all good? I don't need to replace the Radiator sensor either?

You need a new stat for mapped coolant system ( has sensor in it), & possibly a new CTS too.
