Hi all,

I think the title says it all.
does anyone here have experience of the B9 with and without the mudflaps? are they worth investing in or should i not bother?

thanks.

I don't have them and the area behind where they'd be does get rather mucky, so it'll be interesting to hear from anybody that does have them to see if they make any difference.

I am having a set of front and rear ones fitted on tuesday, so when it rains I should be in a position to give my opinion on the difference. But certainly my car seemed to get quite dirty down the sides of it, the rear bumber and the sills without any mud flaps...

Do they do them for the s4, my dealer said they weren't available for an S4 however I wouldn't know why the normal A4 wouldn't fit?! This is for saloon

Have them on my A4 B9, they DO keep crud to a minimum (within reason) plus they were a free upgrade from the dealer. Mud flaps are marmite for some.

Personally ive never liked mud flaps on a car and these look no better on the eye than any others having a blocky design that jars with the elegant slim standard 18 inch s-line wheel. I think they spoil the look of the car and they actually help to hold and build dirt in these areas. Not good if your in a wet climate. They will also fade in colour giving that sun bleeched plastic bumper effect.......remember the days when you used to go around your car wiping on tyre black on all these areas,no thanks.

As stated it is marmite, however living out in the country our cars need them and it also reduces the spray out of the rear of the car for other drivers. Personally I don't think the A4 versions look too bad and other ones I have had fitted never faded either...

On lower cars, especially if you have to negotiate curbs, they catch on things. I took them off my B6 avant, the crunching noise when clipped was doing my OCD no favours whatsoever....

Had mine fitted today and I think they actually add to the look of the car, seeing as they aren't rally style ones, even the guy on the service desk said so himself.
However I booked in for a 08:30 while you wait service and after 09:30 had passed and my car was still sitting where I'd parked it. I went and complained and immediately the car was taken in So not impressed with that at all and it will be reflected upon my feedback to them. Then, when I got home I realised that they must have used the windscreen washers and consequently the bonnet had dirty tide marks on it from the headlamp washers, I guess the headlamps must have come on inside the garage. After I'd spend all morning yesterday getting the car clean, so they don't feel the need to perform one of their rubbish valets, this is not what I'd expect from Audi at all...

+1 for the OCD reference, though I would have to ensure that both sides got equally muddy...

Agree with cuke2u re: marmite. I hate marmite too and would only contemplate flaps on an Allroad model where they would not be a unsightly visual distraction.

However this has nothing to do with being OCD because if you actually had this you would not know how to intellectualise it http://www.ocduk.org/ocd?gclid=CPfv_JuDndMCFY8K0wodk-gIWg I work with many children who have this and I find it really is very saddening for anyone to claim they have it when really it is a severely disabling illness.
Sorry serious head was on...

I was thinking of getting mud flaps as I can see where all the dirt from front wheels sprays onto the side. I think it will make some difference. Does anyone know if they are easy to fit yourself or better to get the garage to do it? Can anyone who has mad flaps please post some pictures esp of avant.

I think someone in here fitted them themself, however I had mine done at a audi dealership. There is drilling involve as far as I saw from the instructions so I thought better than attempt it myself. However I am sure a self fit could be achieved if one feels ressonably confident...

Fitted mine myself. Yes, drilling involved and front wheels needed to come off.
Took about an hour to do all four. There isn't anything particularly difficult really.

Do they make a difference?

'Drag'!! Seems weird not to do them for the S4. I might inquire.

Yep totally agree, i got them fitted in the hope they would offer some protection to the sills from stones being flicked up from the road

My train of thought also. I bought more for reducing stone chips and being a white car, tar spots than the general wet weather road spray.
Heavy material, mud and such does seem to get stopped by them.

Slow driving around the town, they do seem to prevent wet daily grime flicking up the side and the car does stay cleaner for a bit longer.
Useless on stopping road spray at motorway speeds where they seem to have made little to no difference.

Thanks for your comments Chaps. They have confirmed what I thought & I'll keep my hands in my pockets. I suppose the only other realistic alternative is to fit Rally style mud flaps. On a £40k car though............. Maybe not.

Hi guys this is my first post , but been following forums for a while, I have a s4 b9 2018 saloon will these mudflaps fit my saloon????

Do you have the Part number on them? Do you have s line car or non s line? I order some flaps from ebay, saying they are genuine, but rear ones doesn't fit to my A4 B9 avant s line.
I don’t have the part number but I do know the S-Line bumpers are different from Sport and S4 model. Avant and saloon are different too.
