Hi Guys,

I've just bought an audi A3 Sline 62reg 8V. I have the connection for the audi music interface in my arm rest console, but the car came with no lead to use so i am trying to buy a replacement. Im guessing the person that sold it kept the lead.I phoned Audi but they weren't much help and had no idea what the part number was... does anyone know the part number for the genuine audi lead with a usb on the end? Or are the ones off ebay just as good the non branded ones?

USB on the end? never seen one with a USB connection on the end. Mine with Apple lightening connector was £5 delivered from Amazon. loads on there. just have a search. worked fine for the past year.

I doubt your MMI will do much more than provide the same service as the bluetooth connection other than charge your phone at the same time. Think the Car Play service for android and IOS came later than 2012

Thanks for the reply. This is the pic of the one i found on ebay i just wanted to make sure its the right one before i ordered it. Some one said you need the right lead for what version software u had etc.

Hi,
This is a minefield and Audi are not really very helpful with the numbering. Have you tried to see if anybody on the forum is near to you with similar year car. Might be worth a try.
There are numerous cables with Red, blue, yellow and white individual collars and you are right that they need to be matched to the software and the type of device to be used. Have you looked in the AMI manual for your year as I think they give the cable numbers for the model and year. Failing that you might have to do what I did and go to Audi parts and see if they will let you check the USB cable with your device before purchase. The last one I bought was £30 from Audi but my experience from those on eBay is very hit and miss but it may be they were the wrongs cables rather than a quality issue.
I hope you get it sorted.

I've still got the MMI cables from my old car... micro USB and a USB A socket are amongst them.

Ring up Audi, ask for parts, tell them your reg, ask for an MMI cable for your chosen device.

Hi Laura

Pretty sure I've got one in my glovebox you can have for £10. I'll check tomorrow, if you'd like it - I'll post it out to you.. unless you're anywhere near Hull?

Hi

Yeah that would be perfect what year audi is it off? Does it have the usb end? Cheers :)

If it's a full sized USB socket (USB-A) one you need, I have one right here you can have for nowt. It's from a SEAT, but I can't think why it wouldn't work...??

Mine's off a MY2015 Leon. Wonder why there'd be two different parts?
