I posted my cluster to Russia to get the colour mfa fitted but it looks like it's been lost in the post and to make things worse I've lost my receipt with the tracking number according to Royal Mail there no way off finding it without that number. So I may need a new cluster I've seen I need a skc code for coding new cluster. How can I find the skc code for my current cluster with it not in the car?

Lucky there's plenty of clusters up your way PLUS people know how to find what you need....

Do you have a blue KKL cable and a windows computer??
 
I know I'm hoping it turns up but it should of been there over a week ago. I have laptop and a full vcds trying to find a old scan to see if it's on there somewhere
 
Nope you will not find it on any scans.

You need to pull it from your ECU

Here's where you wanna click - find the command line with -OBD in its line

Ok cheers il have to find my kkl cable I'm not sure if I binned it when I got the vcds.
I see your going to be busy with an order of 15 sets
 
I think you might be able to use VCDS - i've just had more consistant results with KKL as you need to be able to set the com port to then put it into the command line

lol i'm just installing 3 - the rest are DIY-ers
 
**** M8 do what Ian recommends or you gonna have to source a vag tacho cable (clone cable will also work but they sometimes struggle to connect) on ebay

SKC's cant be extracted via vcds
 
When buying the other cluster will
I need the skc code with it or can I plug it in and put my old code in and it should work?
 
Amendment to Dohcwp's post: you can actually use your official VCDS cable to extract the SKC from the cluster too
 
I've seen the Ross tech process page on doing the swap but not on retrieving the skc would I use my vcds cable with th other software? . I told multimfa what's happened and they have told me to wait another 2weeks before buying another cluster just in case
 
its probably just being examined by the KGB to make sure its not unknown technology. there will be 1000 Dacia's with S3 clusters now.
 
Imagine what they will think if they scan it onthe way home. all the extra wires all over the show would look a bit suspect on a X-ray scanner

Yeah I would give it time

But yes you would need other software to pull the skc from your maybe to be bought replacement.

You would need to plug the replacement cluster into car

Hook up cable, fire up software, read

Then use VCDS to match replacement cluster to ECU

*i have NEVER had luck using the VCDS matching procedure even with both skc's. Just doesn't wanna write properly. Workaround is to manually change the HEX data in the cluster then all is well. Skipping the VCDS matching procedure.

But to make that easiest for yourself you need your original cluster.

Otherwise you need to use your eeprom pull from your ecu and transcribe the relevant values into the replacement cluster

Yeah a bit but I usually am
If I do have to bite the bullet and by another I know gops has one for sale with the skc code

Happy days the clocks arrived today panic over. Royal mail "4-5 days" more like 3 weeks

Also been wondering if their is a point running can hi/low over from rnse and Bluetooth module to the clocks if the new screen doesn't display it

doesnt the rnse get its speed signal from the clocks via the canbus ?
 
I didn't think of that I was just thinking about the display I might aswell just do it then

Probably needed to clear customs a thousand times over to make sure your cluster wasn't a terrorist attack. Haha

I wonder what it'll be like on its way back to you with many extra wires!!! It'll look Frankenstein through their x rays.

I would Connect everything up as per spec. It is supposed to show everything the stock radio can give to the cluster = station, track, phone call (even on the a6 c5 GPS works)

I changed this line on mine to include more read out values because I don't have a stock h/u anymore...

You're gunna be super satisfied with this mod!!!
 
I'm sure I will I just hope I don't blow it up when doing the can hi/low that would just be my luck ha
 
Did you ask Khatkov to see if it's possible/compatible?
 
No ive got to connect them for the display info on the normal dis and for the gps speed signal and Bluetooth but knowing my luck il get wires crossed and do more damage than good and having not tested before sending them off i be nervous plugging it in for 1st time

Could not find anything to download link on there unless I'm missing something obvious. The vag tacho on eBay seem to only work with windows xp but my laptop is windows 10 is there anyway to get it work with installing xp? Or any other method or getting the code apart from removing my ecu and sending to someone?

I am by no means a 'techy' but have you tried running the compatibility troubleshooter mate,that's worked for me with my arcade emulator that was running XP?
 
I'm no tech either so I have not heard of the trouble shooter thingy I will look in to it

Yes clocks are going back to standard as I have purchased a fis so aiming to get the mfsw working fully and display all info
