I've just fitted my rnse and also a audi Bluetooth module with microphone and need help coding it using this key I got from @Tuffty thread I get code 0519713

0
5-a6
1- inactive
9-Bose
7 - base play diagnostic capable
1- default
3- cd changer

And for dis code 15

Car has the full Bose fitted, Bluetooth retro fitted and factory cd changer
Does this seem
Right?

Went out this evening to code up the RNS-E...

First thing to do was to code the unit for the A6 (<2004) as this is the one closest technically speaking... I also soft coded features relevant to the setup I was looking for...
In VCDS you need to go into the (56) radio module... (07) Coding and enter a soft code based on the following...

0?xxxxx: Model
1 - Lamborghini
2 - Audi A3 (8P)
3 - Audi A4 (> 2004)
4 - Audi A4 Cabriolet (> 2004)
5 - Audi A6 (< 2004)
6 - Audi TT (> 2007) (sw US 0150+, EU 0500+)
7 - Audi R8 (sw US 0150+, EU 0500+)

0x?xxxx: Diagnostics for front speakers
0 - activ
1 - inactiv

0xx?xxx: Sound characteristics
0 - linear
1 - Audi A4 (> 2004)
2 - Audi A6 (< 2004)
3 - Audi A4 Cabriolet (> 2004)
4 - Audi TT (> 2004)
5 - Audi A3 (8P)
9 - Bose Soundsystem

0xxx?xx: Telephone/telematics
1 - no telephone (supply voltage for microphone actively)
2 - Mobile phone preparation (Temic - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
3 - Mobile phone preparation (Cullmann - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
4 - Mobile phone preparation (Nokia - Speisesp. Microphone inactively)
5 - Telematics Europe (supply voltage microphone inactively)
6 - Telematics US (supply voltage microphone inactively)
7 - Base plate diagnostic capable with comfort control

0xxxx?x: Options I
1 - default
2 - Digital-Radio
3 - Satelite-Radio
4 - Satelite- and Digital-Radio
5 - AUX in (Euro sw 0650+)
6 - AUX in and DAB (Euro sw 0650+)

0xxxxx?: Options II
1 - default
2 - TV-Tuner
3 - CD-Changer
4 - TV-Tuner and CD-Changer
5 - Multifunction Steering Wheel
6 - TV-Tuner and Multifunction Steering Wheel
7 - CD-Changer and Multifunction Steering Wheel
8 - TV-Tuner, CD-Changer und Multifunction Steering Wheel

I used the following soft code... 0510153 which makes up the following softcode:

0
5 - Audi A6 (< 2004)
1 - inactiv
0 - linear
1 - no telephone (supply voltage for microphone actively)
5 - AUX in
3 - CD-Changer

I then coded the dash to allow use of the DIS...
Module 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> Channel 62
+01 - Radio
+02 - Telefon
+04 - Navigation
+08 - Telematics

I used 01 + 04 + 08 = 13 to softcode as this allows the DIS to display the radio/track etc, navigation and 08 because FIS Control is coded as telematics

While there I also coded out GALA as it drives me nuts...
Module 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Channel 008 (GALA)
000 - GALA off
001 - Charakteristics 1
002 - Charakteristics 2
003 - Charakteristics 3
004 - Charakteristics 4
005 - Charakteristics 5
255 - GALA via microphone (Bose AudioPilot)

I set this to 000

I have not checked the navigation display in the DIS as not had time to go out for a drive but all the other stuff works as expected...

Only problem I have had so far is the driver of my Andy Mac Stealth Sub... its been in service for over ten years (first in my A4 and then in the AMSS in the S3) and has finally given up the ghost...

Sub bass is a little farty now so I have dropped the levels down on it so its barely audible until I can source a replacement driver

This is driving me crazy I have the rnse unit working with cd changer all speakers are working the nav works but I cannot get the ****** Bluetooth working or dis display any help appreciated and all help needed as I can see me paying someone to come out to it after buying a full vcds

any help appreciated and all help needed

Haven't been any help to you so far it seems so have a free bump plus if this is any good(i doubt it)...

You may have found this US forum already, don't know if it will help...

As a long shot, this forum post shows some tel coding...

Sorry mate if I've wasted your time

Don't know about the bluetooth as I don't have this on mine... but I assume you have coded the instruments?

Module 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> Channel 62
+01 - Radio
+02 - Telefon
+04 - Navigation
+08 - Telematics

You would need 01 + 04 = 5 as a minimum for your setup to display in the DIS

What year is your car? you may need to wire CAN to the instruments... I didn't need to on my AMK/late 2001

Mines a facelift amk 2001 y reg yeah stereo is coded and works so does sat nav and the Bose . For the dis I put 15 for some reason in 62 it says stored value and new value that's the right place ain't it? . After trawling the Ross tech forum and google I found out that after coding block 77 for telephone that I hold two buttons on the rnse to reset it so will try that tonight
@tcg don't be sorry all input is welcome and much appreciated at this point
And tuffty how would o know if I need to run the extra cable? It did use to display it on the old stereo

From memory its the middle connector of the cluster (grey plug I think?)... pin 5 is CAN high and pin 6 is CAN low... mine had these wires in but yours being an early facelift may not...

I will check when I get home tonight
Is that the cluster behind stereo ? I'm guessing mine hasn't as it just blank doesn't light up show temp or any thing but still the petrol light comes on ok

Behind the instruments... you need to remove the instruments to check this and run wires if need be...

So I'm giving up I've tried coding it and the Bluetooth just doesn't want to work when I go in module 77 it recognise's the Bluetooth module (brings up part no) no fault codes I've got to be missing something. And I tried scanning module 19-canbus says no signal a localish retrofitter says il need a new canbus fitting(£200-£250) if I ran wires to mine it would just constantly drain the battery il have to shop around I think. oh well at least I managed the double din conversion bit

The Dis won't work correctly for the pre facelift clocks. You'll have to put in a set of facelift clocks to accept the can low and hi and program it. It'll work then. Im not sure about Bluetooth but I'm guessing it should work with rnse

Don't give up. Put some facelift clocks in

20 Awg is 0.5 mm2 so this should be ok then ?
Cheers

This ad on ebay is for the wire recommended in a RSN-E guide (can't find the guide at the moment) which states the wire gauge is 0.5mm squared...

You can also get the pins from ebay mate or I expect Audi do them as well.I also read that you can use hockey stick tape, the stuff you wrap round the handle to wrap the wires together to make it all professional looking, something like these...

I've got the clocks out how do I remove the two unused pins to put them in the pin 5 and 6 or do I need to buy new pins guide I'm using says to reuse the empty Ines but not how to remove them

Without look ing I don't know for sure as its not something I had to do on mine.. the guide explains how to take the plug apart so I assume you got that far... by spare pins I can only think the guide means that there are a couple of un crimped terminals spare in some of the location in the plug (I have seen this on ECU plugs before)...

You will need to remove those (somehow) and crimp/solder wires on then relocate in the correct positions for CAN...

Without looking at one I can't really tell you how they come out though..

<tuffty/>

Also I think I found the issue with the telephoneaccording to the guide @tcg sent me

A k line feed is needed so tracing backwards from head unitboth quad locks have this wire but when I get to the adapter from my old head unit 3 of the pins don't line up in fact there's only two and should be 3 pins and the two that are there don't even line up and land in empty pins

Anyone know where I would get a pin wiring diagram for the original black connecter

The pics do appear if you click them I think because I copied n pasted them they don't appear

On the spare pins... there should be a 'tang' that latches it into the plug that you can 'release' through the rectangular holes at the bottom... they are slightly offset so I have highlighted what I believe to be the correct ones below...
Rnsepins
