I'm looking to lower my avant an the Sportline springs seems to be the way to go with good reviews and the ride height I'm looking for - however, do I go springs only or add the bilstein B8 shocks (B12 kit)?

I'm concerned that the shocks will make the ride harsh as I used these shocks a few years ago and the ride was solid!

Any experience here please?

Thanks

I have the B12 pro kit on my car and I would describe the ride as firm but not harsh. But I am only running 17 or 18 inch wheels and my idea of firm may be what you would describe as harsh. Nobody has ever commented that the car is uncomfortable, they have comments about how well it handles though.
I ran the Eibach springs on their own for a year before deciding to get a B12 kit and change the shockers.

The difference was night and day in ride and handling just by changing the shockers.

The ride was a lot firmer but a lot more controlled with less body roll.
As you are looking at the Sportline kit these are a little lower so the spring rating will be raised a little more than the pro kit. It's very difficult to get what I would call a soft ride on anything other than air suspension if you want to run the car low.
Eibach do a great job of getting ride quality and handling as good as possible.

thanks for the info - I had considered running the springs only but not sure the standard shocks would last long - I've currently got "sports" suspension according to the build sticker, I want to close the arch gap but gone are the days where I want to be really low, I use the car for family duties and business.

Having been out in Karl's aka @desertstorm 's car, I can confirm the ride quality; it's towards firm but not unduly hard and without being at all crashy or harsh, taut yet controlled and compliant.

I know these things are very subjective, but as an overview, I guess I'd say it's everything you would hope the Sline suspension SHOULD be but yet manages to miss by quite a margin.

Thanks - I would be happy if the ride stays about the same or marginally harder then I can deal with that - now off to find the best price for B12 kit, Milltek exhaust, wheel spacers.........

The cheapest place I have found for these kits is Ebay in Germany. I ordered the original springs fitted on my car and then the B12 kit. I believe this is the kit you are looking for.

It seems that Larkspeeed may also have the kit you are looking for and it's not that bad a price.

Best to check exactly with the Bilstein on line tool but the manufacturers part number for your car is 46-183521 I believe.

Looks like it's designed to be used with the original bump stops. The length of these is quoted in the PDF.

Thanks @dessertstorm - I will use a UK company just because I like to have a point of contact in case of any issue - Damian @ DPM is pretty close to that price anyway.
Looking forward to closing that arch gap up, I'm in 19inch Rotor's so once the suspension and I know what space I have to play with I'll be looking for some wheel spacers to fill out the arches.
