Thoughts on splitter without black optics pack?

Well plan maybe came crashing down

Went to order the Rieger tuning one just to check delivery cost and it doesn't have UK, Great Britain or England as an option... it has "Create Britain" lol but that says "Sorry, no Order for this Country"

Hmmm

Will have to hope @J6YAK sees my message or this post to let me know how he got his... Assuming he's from UK too

Right, Rieger update... found a guy who does them in the UK, but he doesn't have the saloon one on his site. Says he can get anything from the Rieger site, just needs to get the price checked with them.

BUT...

http://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/produ...udi-s3-8v-sedan-cabrio--audi-a3-8v-sline.html

Thoughts on the above? Great price at less than £150 delivered for the gloss black one (the fake carbon one looks horrible)

Really like the shape of it, bit more obvious without going chavvy... but hate the logo in the middle... Anyone got thoughts on a good way of covering it up that would look good? Thought gloss black vinyl but it would still be dipped 'in'

EDIT: Maybe the maxton one is a bit too 'out there'... Hmmmmmm tough choice ha

Without seeing the logo/badge in real life it would be hard to tell just how best to either remove, or cover up.

It won't be "impossible" though, even if that involves a small amount of filler and then re-painting/wrapping/plastidipping/hydrodipping the entire splitter again.

I've asked them for a close-up pic so I can see if it is 'in' the splitter or 'on'

May have been said already, but Maxton design do a carbon option splitter for hatchback and saloon, might be worth checking out :)

Thanks! I did see that but it is carbon effect, as opposed to actual carbon (and it doesn't look too realistic in my opinion).

Also the Rieger looks a bit more OEM+ whereas the Maxton looks a bit too 'aftermarket' in some photos I think. See attached. Sticks out way too far in the middle I think (not sure if that owner fitted it wrong, but looks similar in the pic of the sepang one also if you look closely)

Does look amazing on a black car though!!

Just wanted to point out the one I've bought is actually the one in the photoshopped images on first page of this thread... The one in the pics above is the Maxton :)

Yeah I quite like the splitter, not sure on the skirt extensions

Will have a think over the splitter and see :) Quite liked the one I had on my Focus ST
Will you have curb clearance issues when parking??

Will be wary of it (already am wary without the splitter), but should hopefully be okay. In theory it isn't any different to someone lowering their car by ~20mm.

Only ever slightly scraped a small section of the one on my focus by going out of a steep car park exit... Looked and felt pretty steep so was going slowly and stopped as soon as it touched, but should have just gone and used the other exit instead... Lesson learnt.

So my splitter turned up today! :D

And WOW... I am SERIOUSLY impressed by the packaging. Never bought a brand new splitter before so not sure if this is normal or not... But Rieger went to the effort of custom cutting pieces of wood (even with angled edges) to make a frame that they'd taped together and taped to the splitter to stop it flexing in the post. Very well done and honestly I was there probably about 10 minutes just unwrapping it all :D

Came with rivets instead of bolts which was unexpected. Will probably use the rivets supplied (providing I have the relevant bit for my rivet gun) instead of self tapping screws as I think I read somewhere about it being important to have something a bit stronger than self tappers as they can be pulled out with a bit of force.

Probably fitting Sunday hopefully

Question for anyone who has done any work under the car with the undertray removed... In the area where I'd be drilling (painted area of front bumper underneath), is there anything 'above' that on the other side? I don't want to just go drilling through and firing in rivets without removing the undertray IF there is something I need to be wary of on the other side.

Or is it simply empty space behind that bit of the bumper? If I don't get any response I will obviously play it safe and remove the undertray. May still do that anyway because:

1. It gives me space to get 'inside' and clamp the splitter in place like I did with my previous car. To perfect the position and be sure it won't move when drilling
2. I can then make sure the splitter won't foul the installation / removal of the undertray at all. Don't want there to be a bit of the undertray behind there where I'm rivetting and find out I've rivited it in :D

Just had a look at this thread. Looks good to me. If the grill was black may tie in better, but then it may also get lost in the black. But this way it does stand out more if that's what your after.

Yeah personally I quite like the chrome against the sepang :)

@azibux, I love the Reiger front lip spoiler you have. It's the most discreet and OEM I've seen and ties well to the saloons trunk lip spoiler. I'll look for one from the USA side.

Thank you! :) That's what I like about it! It's a sort of OEM+ look. Not too over the top, but noticeable :)

Looks good mate, easy fit?
Thanks @batch!

I'd say relatively easy, yeah!

I spent a while trying to remove the front section that is in front of the undertray, just to get a better view of where I'd be drilling below (to see what's up there) but failed... Simple couldn't work out how to remove that piece. So in the end I gave up and just drilled carefully and used shorter rivets where I felt necessary.

Overall probably a 45 minute job if you're not really rushing it and not removing any parts. Depends really how long you spend lining it all up etc :)

It has a LOT of holes in the centre section (below the alu trim piece), but I didn't use these as:

1 - My Focus ST splitter was not attached at all in the middle and that was fine for months
2 - If you drill through there, I'm 90% sure it was gonna come through the top of the alu trim and you'd see the back of the rivet then from above?

Not sure if they thought about that when designing it, or if I looked at it wrong

Either way, it seems solid :D

Would definitely recommend Rieger / Body-Kit in the UK
