Thanks mate, i suppose we have to have our own spin on things.
Not sure yet, i thought about a puppy but seens we have a 6 week old baby girl and a 3 year old staffy that acts like 6 month old pup, i may have to think long and hard about this one
I could end up living in the car if i get it wrong

Wheel size doesnt matter? I dont remember saying it did? Just my personal choice. If we all copied each other it would be pointless.

On 235 30 20 continental sport contact 5p all round mate. Absolutely zero rim protection and no margin for error so i need to be careful.
I went for the HLT forged so strength and weight wise we're good. Just need to be wide awake whilst driving

Just joined this forum after getting a PFL Sportback - love this thread Craig! Nice to see you making the car yours, big wheels always photograph oddly I think, especially black on white. I bet in the flesh it looks mint! I used to have 19s with 30 profile tyres on a beemer and it was a nightmare not to mark them!

Obviously you must know this with your paint skills, but if you really want the RB you could always wrap it for cheap and have the fix for awhile. As much as anyone would argue otherwise I think an IW saloon will always be more saleable than RB, just because white is tried and tested. I love a clean white car, my first 4 cars were all white!

Anyway look forward to other progress in the new year, glad you are enjoying it!

Welcome mate!

Thanks yeah your very right, the pics really dont do it justice. Looks a million times better in the flesh, also with the wheel style being very similar to the original wheels it just exagerates its original look imo.

Ive seen a few RB pics now and if im being totally honest, im really glad it didnt come that way, i dont like it as much as i thought i would. If i was to go back i would probably go for IW as it just works. Plus ive got a misano red A4 as well so the 2 together really compliment each other.

The older ones dont appreciate the wheels but ive never been a guy to leave the car standard. Owning a company like mine which specialise in tastefully modified cars and factory spec super cars, it would be daft of me not to take full advantage. At the end of the day you set out to please yourself and if it brings work through the door in the process then bonus.

Ill look forward to seeing your car

Guys down there wanted to work on the 2017 ecu and return offered a stage 1 map foc. Thought it would be rude not to so dropped it off for 7.30 this morning. Believe it or not it was clean when i set off
Ill keep you posted on the results. Pick it up next wednesday

Ok so ive had reports back from MRC Tuning and the cars responding well to tuning... so well that its cooking the clutch and theyve had to wind it back abit. Im not prepared to walk away at that... so ive asked them to keep the car as long as they need and fit a helix paddle clutch supplier from AKS Tuning. For the people that dont know, the ea888 gen 3 had port and direct injection, so hense the cracking response tuning wise. So ill let you know the outcome

Merry xmas everyone and a happy new year!!

Any hint of numbers ? Must be some pretty decent torque if it's cooking the clutch straight away! Think there are now a few clutch options for manual cars but looks like you've done your research and made a wise choice.

EA888 gen 3 being the 8V engine ?

They havent said too much tbh, but it was slipping slightly in 5th with the dtuk from cold on full power, so im guessing the clutch is a big weak spot on these.
Yes the ea888 gen 3 is in the fl S3, as far as im aware the ea888 gen 2 is in the pfl S3 8v but im happy to be corrected on that one.
Your correct there is a few options but in work closely with a few different tuners / technicians who are currently testing or using the helix paddle clutch. With it being good for 500lbft its a no brainer for me. My TTE525R will be landing February latest so it was always going to be needed. I was ready for the clutch prior to tuning so its not a massive issue but at the same time a reluctant spend this close to xmas. But hey its what we do.

Ive had a chat with MRC Tuning again today and its pushing around 375bhp with the boost limited for the stock clutch. I cant get the clutch over in time for it to be installed so tbh i never expected that kind of power from a stage 1 map so im gonna pick it up tomorrow anyway.
Ill fit the clutch at my garage but im gonna wait and see just how it performs. I guess that way i know what a manual clutch can handle for future reference. Plus i can also fit the clutch, wagner fmic, intake and boost pipe, plus a miltek downpipe and see what a difference the stage 2 software makes.. this will mean im more or less plug and play for the 525r later in the spring and i get to see the difference between each stage. So ill get it back to nice and clean tomorrow, stick the gopro on the rear bumper and go make some noise

Sounds like a good plan Craig will be interesting to see what MRC stage 2 will make should break 400bhp from what I've seen from them so far. Are you going sport cat or de-cat for the downpipe ? Think I'm going to get the rest of the Milltek system on mine in the next week or two.

From what i can gather without speaking to them properly, it produced nearly 400bhp stage 1 which is unreal, also the torque was the same around 400lbft which is just rediculous! Ill probably go for a full decat with me not needing an mot for another 3 years. Ill know more tomorrow and will be sure to report back with any info. Its a shame i didnt put a clutch in already as i think we would be seeing the first stage 1 400+ S3 so far.

Stage 1 400bhp would be truly epic !!!

I'm looking at Revo stage 3 when it's released in the new year it's an IS38 turbo that's been upgraded by Turbo Technics and is seeing 470-495bhp out there in beta testing so I'll be more than happy with that I - went in a Golf R a few months back with this setup and the power was unbelievable quite frankly it shouldn't be possible it's supercar quick. Stage 2 is good but it's really a step closer to where the real fun happens LoL !!

Yeah Alex at Aks tuning is runing the turbo technics hybrid, but ive seen people pushing stronger figures than 480, more like the 520 the tte is pushing. Either are an excellent option. Ill look forward to seeing what you do with it

Well i picked the car up wednesday and had a nice drive back from banbury, the guys at MRC Tuning said it responded well minus the clutch as i mentioned, but when they say its slipping it is really in the higher gears whilst under load. But since ive driven it back its not really happened that much.
Either way im going over to AKS Tuning in the morning with my mate so he can pick his car up, so going to have a look at my options and most likely drive back with a solution in the boot

Either way the car is an absolute tool even with a stage 1 map and a slipping clutch!!
1st 2nd 3rd, just something else! Ive had/built some quick cars but the power delivery is just instant, no lag, no messing around, just direct brutal power.
That said the figures arent huge but it goes to show how well a good flowing set up with a good map can change the state of play.
369bhp & 373lbft (375ps & 507nm) with a slipping clutch

Its going back in the new year with a new clutch, decat downpipe, intake pipe and boost pipe upgrades for another go, so ill keep you posted.

If im honest the car doesnt need anymore, its just unleashed the power that Audi have held back on and thats exactly what im trying to find out on my way through the process.
What do you need to still enjoy your car without spending a fortune... the answer is simple.
MRC stage 1 map & Dsg map (S tronic)
MRC stage 1 map and a clutch (Manual)
And i promise you will love it!!

Just for a little more, it returned an extra 7mpg on a run taking it to 37 mpg average from 30 mpg.
What else can i say..

Anyway heres the graph

Seens the power is enjoyable at the minute and the clutch is handling it on a daily basis ive decided to do the brakes next. (Clutch is still on its way but being the first for the S3 it wont be available until helix and aks are happy with it)

So i managed to pick up some RS6/7 6 pot Brembo calipers which are rediculousy light weight for the size of them.

I ordered some genuine seals, new bleed nipples and some hi temp S3 decals to add to them.

Heres how they arrived.. they had been subject to an aerosol can at some point
3af2fe934b48571e80c2cd3d4d1161a3.jpg

I then stripped them, dipped them in our acid tank to remove all previous paint, shot blasted them (making sure the barrells were covered) masked them up and hung them on the rails for powder coating in red. I also flipped the cross over pipe to the other side due to the calipers mounting on the front on the S3, rather than the rear on the RS6, this bringing the bleed nipples to the top.

Once up to temperature we powder coated them Red
72e228cf1601db57a2026cb4522a0494.jpg

After baking we let them cool down enough to apply the hi temp S3 decals before lacquering. This is hard as you dont want to touch the caliper too much for risk of contamination.

We then lacquered them, baked them and de masked them while they were still red hot. This ensures no residue from the hi temp masking tape is left behind.

Heres the finished result

I just need to build them up next week and they are ready for installation.

The possibility of discs from the R8 GT Track car will be confirmed on monday, 390mm x 36
Ill update as the parts arrive but this is as far as ive got at present.

Thanks mate. You can use 19s as far as im aware but i would have to try it to see. I was going to go for 400mm discs but they were only one piece and i was worried about warping.
