does anyone know part numbers for s3 bam timing belt/water pump kits ?

Gates or contitech ?

I was looking at ct909wp1 is this the correct kit ??

Also is there one that deletes the hydraulic tensioner for a manual one ??

TIA

I recently bought a contitech for my BFB 1.8T A4 and that was a manual tensioner type im looking for something along the lines of this.

This is the type of kit im after nothing fancy like the IE stuff just a box standard timing belt/water pump kit with manual tensioner. I bought one of these for my BFB, Does 06B stuff work on 06A as i can get hold of one listed for a A4 BFB (CT909WP2) ?? The only one i can see is a hydraulic one which is CT909WP1 that will is listed for the BAM engine ??

Thats similar to the pag parts kit I am now using

06b is similar to 06a from what I understand... not sure on the belt as the 058's were more teeth IIRC... not sure if this is the case on the 06b

You would also need to get the pulley stud which is an OE part..

Would be interested in the part numbers once you find them as that tensioner pulley is a much nicer solution than both the damper and the manual one..

The kit I got from PagParts was an INA one... the tensioners are fine but the belt looked too flimsy especially as I have cams and full supertech so opted for an OE belt instead

06b is 150 teeth and 23mm width and 06a i believe is the same, i think 058 is 153 teeth.

That kits is also listed for the 2.0 (ALT) aswell iirc

Ive got loads in my tool box :sunglasses:

Interestingly 034 list the kevlar gates belt for 06A/06B engines ?

Do you reckon that kit would work then ??

Wouldn't touch a kevlar gates belt myself... they had a run of bad ones that snapped... I assume they have addressed this but still wouldn't trust one

You almost want a little elasticity in the belt when loading up so not to stress it..

Prawn got a kit off the part forum for a steal of a price.

OE belts are contitech, about £15 from Euro parts. Same belt.

Im not looking at getting a kevlar belt i was asking do you reckon the on i bought for my old BFB (06B) will do for the BAM (06A) ??

Does this look like it would work ??

Looks plausible and very much like the kit I have... can't answer on the belt but if its the same number of teeth then it should be ok..

The tensioners etc should fit fine... be obvious if the belt doesn't...

VAG are pretty lazy and re-use parts across all sorts... stands a chance of fitting at least...

Would imagine its essentially the same as the kit I got... I don't know its origin but based on the pics and the info you posted I would have taken a chance myself :)

Nothing is 100 % these days , leaking waterpumps , and Canadian Litens tentioners throwing out grease , Litens as found in both Gates and SKF .

Time will tell , Gates recently fitted to my AVF and an SKF to a AWX I know of .

Its basically the same kit as the CT909WP1 which has the hydraulic damper (where as the CT909WP2 has a manual tensioner) the WP1 kit is listed for the S3 BAM so it has some chance of fitting.

Right the belt kits arrived.

Water pump number (wp6041) checks out ok also the belt number ct909 corresponds to the S3 BAM so all good there the actual belt kit is a CT909K10.

Will get it fitted this weekend at work as i have the use of a ramp thats saying it all goes well and actually fits lol

Everything looks promising in the kit.

Its running only thing that needed modding was the washer behind the old tensioner pully needs removing other wise the belt runs ******.

But all is good except one thing i gets home and erased codes from when i ran it with evap etc unplugged and im now getting a code 17748 rosstech suggests its timing belt/chain issue i checked it and double checked it could this be a tooth out maybe ??

Also i need a new engine mounting bracket as who ever has worked on this previous got giddy and cross threaded one of the two bolts that hold the mounting to the engine mount ive managed to get it in for now but just adds more to the list :rage:

The washer thats not needed.

Tooth out normally if the error code is timing correlation out.

When doing belt, its important to make sure that the value in block 091 (i think) somewhere between 90-94... is close to 0KW as you can get. Its normally listed as idle stabilisation and is the 3rd block in.

Ok cheers will get a new mount and get vcds on it when i swap the mount also is there a 'easy' way to remove the mount as i could only budge it whist the tensioner pulley and water pump were removed ??

You can helicoil the mount... I did this on mine as its not uncommon for the threads to be f00ked after a couple of belt changes plus there are a few animals about that no doubt just gunned the bolts in which won't have helped...

You are actually supposed to replace the bolts if removed as they are torque + 90 degrees

Still Not had chance to correct the timing if that is my fault yet but just had vcds on as i had to replace the haldex earth strap with the £5 halfords jobbie so wanted to check communication with the haldex controller but heres what MVB's are reading on those channels mentioned above to check
