So finally got some good weather to get the rear badges off an fit new black sline badges on the car I got after a good wash. But when using the chamois on the car dwn at the rear bumper I've noticed really bad area of lacquer peel an affected are of missing lacquer is quite big. Only got the car just over week ago from Audi themselves, the car is only 3 years old yesterday but I got 1 year used car warranty with it. Have emailed the photos to sales guy who sold me it an he's friend of my dad so he said he'd look into it for me. Checked online an says that audi only offer 3 year paint warranty? Is this true as I know other manufacturers offer more.

Has anyone had this happen to their car if so did audi fully repair it for you? My car is A4 Avant B8.5 s line. Post some pics of car before de-badging an new badges plus the dreaded lacquer peel.

You shouldn't have an issue sorting that on an audi approved vehicle. Badges look good - you going to do the rings?

Good to hear an thinking it shouldn't be a problem getting it fixed by them as it's obviously happened good while ago with previous owner but he's never noticed it an would have been within the 3 year warranty if he had seen it.

Yeah goin for the black rings on the rear though only seller that has the exact size I need is outta stock flip sake my luck!! Failing that to get them will paint a new set of silver rings black!!

Most people go slightly smaller on the back. I have carbon ones to match the inlays to stick on at some point.

Ah rite, we can get one that's 5mm smaller height wise on the back so probably settle with that!! Thot about the carbon one for the rear but settling on the red/black look on the car.

Yea i think the generation before had a slightly smaller badge so all the aftermarket manufacturers just kept them the same. You'd never tell.

I planned to do the silver mirrors but not sure now so I've sat on the badges

Well with u saying most ppl go smaller an it only bein 5mm difference I'm gonna order it now. Another thing off the to do list. The silver on grey car combo goes well tho but carbon goes nicer ;))

I don't know what the problem is with Audi and red - but they do tend to suffer from lacquer peel. I've seen quite a few including my A3.
Started off around the size of a 50 pence piece - then over a couple months it gradually got worse (size of a melon in some areas). Eventually had the whole car resprayed minus the rear two doors!

As above can't see it being a problem getting that sorted. I'd be kicking off big time especially as you've bought it from audi.

Debadged mine and changed rear rings the black, as mentioned they are slightly smaller but you can't tell any difference.

If they try to hit me with excise for not fixing it I'll be kicking off big time but was purchased off one of my dad's business clients who is the business manager in that branch an other client is the branch manager so cudnt see it bring fixed a problem lol.

Ur car looks well debadged, I just wanted rid of the 'a4' & 'tdi' off the back an the nice touch of black sline badge. Are ur audi rings matt black or gloss black? Not sure wat to go for?

Sorry to hijack the thread, feva where did you get the black rings from please ? I want to change the silver rings on my front grill (2015 S1), I contacted a company I saw recommended on the forum but they no longer sell them.... I don't know whether the rings on eBay are good quality so would love personal recommendations here :)

I went for gloss black sline badges on the side, gloss black rear rings and changed the front to gloss black rings as well.

Think eBay best place to get them from but I'm new to the audi scene so could be wrong but that's where I'm gonna get my rear one from

I'll see if I can find link to the seller on ebay. They are a very close match, tried another seller but their rings were crap.

Thanks - I will check that out, I can't quite decide if the black rings, on a black grill, on an all black S1 will work but I might get a set and see...

They're not that dear to buy the black rings so sure worth a try an see wat it's like, would not try a colour or carbon fibre??

I imagine your sales guy will resolve it as a good will gesture.
I bought my car used from Audi with 80k on the clock and was 3years old at the time.
A few weeks in I noticed laquer peeling away all around the rear quarter window and after a few weeks saw it was growing, baring in mind i had it over a month at this point, called the sales guy, explained the problem, and he said it isnt covered by the paint warentee however they will resolve it as good will and give me a decent courtesy car. Fixed it in a day, was very pleased :)

Yeah I was thinking about a red set of rings against the all black grill to match the red trim pieces in the lights :)

Yeah think a red set of rings wud look nice on a black car good combo, wud stand out nicely or carbon effect wud do either. As I said not dear to buy an u can easily change if u didn't like the colour!!

Update on the lacquer peel!!

So spoke to business manager who I bought the car off at audi an he said he remembers thing about red cars an lacquer peel etc but not to worry it'd be sorted for me. Got the main call centre branch to contact me then they transferred me to the body shop where I explained my situation of only buyin car then noticing the lacquer peel, guy said oh it's 3 years old and paint warranty on bumpers is only 3 years and Audi won't cover it, started to loose patience with him as told him only got the car an it had been missed by them when valeting it etc, told him phoning my salesman back an he'll sort it. So got call today an said not to worry it'll be fully fixed no matter wat an they'll contact me 2moro to arrange leaving car in......rant over lol.

Just happy it's gonna be fixed!!
