Has anyone managed to get this feature working in their 8v?

I'm hooked up to BT audio streaming. However I am getting no notifications at all. I have the tech pack fitted if this makes any difference.

Thanks

If you mean the phone automatically recording where you park then yes mine is doing that. I didn't do anything to enable it, it just works.

This is odd then how mine isn't working at all.

Mine works when I'm in my wife's 2010 TT but not in my 2015 S3. Would be interested to hear if there is anything that needs to be set to activate it.

This must lead to a car issue then rather then your phone settings.

Doesn't work for me on my IP6 and 2016 S3.

The function is enabled but nothing shows on the Maps app
I works on my iPhone 6 and 2016 s3, I didn't even know about it, I just went on maps and it told me where my car was

Check the following on your iPhone:
  • Bluetooth On and connected to car
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations = On
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Maps = While Using
  • Settings > Maps > Show Parking Location = On
  • Map Destination Widget ON (for testing)

Exactly, unless you are in the habit of forgetting where you left your car, it's pretty useless.

Good to know
I saw this pop up on my phone and wondered why it would do it not knowing the new features in IOS 10

I have all those settings on (as I had already done a little research) but still no joy and at present have given up out of frustration! Seems really hit and miss as to whether it works or not but I would love to get it working! I had read somewhere about resetting the iPhone can do the trick but I am not sure how drastic a measure that is? I do not want phone going back to factory settings, especially as there is no guarantee it will work ?

It's works like a charm in my mates ****** Vauxhall!!

Try creating a backup in iTunes and then restoring from the backup first.

The AUDI MMI Connect APP also has the option to set Car Finder & navigate to car via Apple Maps. if you have Force Touch on the iphone 6s then it sets it quite quickly. Only thing i hate is that the MMI Connect app has to have Location Services always on and not just to when you use the app. I dont like this as battery goes down and it tracks me all the time... Worth trying though as the app has some good features...

To be honest
Try creating a backup in iTunes and then restoring from the backup first.
If the issue is iPhone "configuration" related then doing this will just backup and restore the issue.

From what I have been reading loads of people are experiencing issues with this feature, across a range of cars. I would wait on the next iOS update.

So can Audi Connect be used as a proper tracker, to permanently track the location of the car...?

Not sure on that as i dont have Audi Connect. I have the standard system so when i park i open the app and set location. Why not download it and try? In the instructions it does seem to track it automatically as the App is connected to the car but via the wifi option so i guess when the App/phone goes out of range then it will loose connection? so if the car is stolen it might not track it as such. I think it just sets parking automatically. i could be wrong though. Is there anything on the online/web browser Audi Connect page?

I don't have my car yet to try it! The FL should in theory have a permanent Internet connection with the embedded SIM card, so would have thought it should be possible to track...?

Audi Connect was an option on the PFL so someone should come along soon with a more educated answer than mine!! ;) But in theory your right yes.... But from reading the blurb on the Audi website i think the sim card just creates a wifi hotspot. not sure though.

Working OK for me on iPhone 6 and iOS 10.1 beta. It is necessary to tap Show More on the Maps widget to display the Parked Car icon.

Is this the maps destination widget?

I have the maps widget but cant see a show more!

I screen captured the Maps Destinations widget after choosing Show More. Presumably if the Parked Car location isn't working, then Show More won't display as an option.

yes, no option like that for me! - although I am sure I have seen the "to get home" message but certainly not the "parked car" bit

Update

I changed my phone to an iPhone 6s last week - when I first activated it, I connected it via bluetooth (MMI) to my FL A3 - (all my settings are exactly as above) . I then connected my phone via bluetooth to my wifes Hyundai i10. By chance, I later noticed that the Parked Car notification had appeared on the map destination widget on my iPhone but that the location marker was for my wifes i10! As I wanted to track my car and not hers, I clicked on "remove car" on the widget. Thereafter, unsurprisingly nothing was picked up at all! I then thought I would delete the i10 Bluetooth connection on the iPhone and on the i10 head unit in case it was confusing the widget (the i10 connection was the second/last Bluetooth connection so perhaps that was the issue?) Anyway, it made no difference with the A3, so I used the "reset all (or network) settings" on apples advice - same result, so I deleted the A3 Bluetooth profile/connection on the MMI and re established it to make sure it was the sole connection - bluetooth fine again but still no luck with widget/function. I then thought if it was not going to work I might as well re establish the i10 Bluetooth connection for when I am in that car. Surprise surprise as soon as I did that and left that vehicle the Parked Car notification reappears for the i10 again! (I know it is for the i10 as the two cars are parked in slightly different locations). Sorry for rabbiting on but it appears to me that I now know how the widget/function works as I have played about with it quite a bit now but it continues to frustrate me with Audi/A3. My conclusion is that for whatever reason the widget/function seems not to connect to the FL A3 - has anyone managed to do this and if so how?

Works in my car, and the odd thing is it works in my Clio too, a car that has all the advanced technology of a wood burning stove.

Never been able to get this to work. It has worked randomly on the odd occasion.

I have all those setting on too.

Maybe try setting a reminder in the reminders app, set the reminder location as "Getting out of the car" and see if that fires?

Yes and for text messages too.

mine is also paired for handsfree and texts etc - I haver also had my wifes identical iPhone side by side religiously checking the settings and they are identical - I am at loss now and guess I will have to forget it!

do you mind posting or confirming your Bluetooth/maps and any other relevant settings?

Try this:

  1. Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone
  2. Tap on Privacy.
  3. Now tap on Location Services at the top.
  4. Towards the bottom of the next screen, tap on System Services.
  5. Again, towards the bottom of the next page, tap on Frequent Locations.
  6. At the top of the next screen, turn the Frequent Locations option to on

Not at all, I'll advise you now though that this function just worked from the day I updated to ios10, but I've no idea how or why.

What do you need to know?

anything you feel may be helpful, I am desperate!

thanks - but earlier in the thread I had already indicated I was using these settings

Are you sure you are safe to be let out alone if the failure of your phone to tell you where you left your car is a matter of desperation!
