Hi All

I just had a call from Audi yesterday telling me my cars due for a cam belt change as its coming upto five years old (sept). Is this right? its only done 45k!

they said they got an offer on at mo so if I pay £450 for the cambelt change i'll get free MOT tests for the life of the car. Its also due a service and brake fluid change.

What annoys me however is I only bought the car 7 months ago from an audi dealership and when I asked them if anything was due on the maintenance side they said "oh its all done you wont have to do anything for over a year" and though i've got two free services as part of the purchase, other than the mot tests and other wear items I wasn't expecting to be paying out £450 for a cambelt change so soon!

oh and I got the letter to get the emissions thing sorted, though not sure I want to do that in case it loses any power output.

pretty std on audis cam belt every 5 years. Try a independent and get audi to price match. Push them saying they never warned you when you were buying the car etc

If you are going to keep it might be worth going with Audi for the free mots. Brake fluid is every 2 years after the first fluid change.

All sorted lads they agreed they should have informed me about the maintenance due when I asked them and they will be doing both the brake fluid and cam belt free of charge as a goodwill gesture...I mean it is the third Audi I have bought off them! Will be booking it in for MOT, Service, Cambelt, brake fluid and emissions fix. Also been offered a collection and courtesy car for the duration its in. needless to say I'm now happy.
