8V S3 Tuning Thread

But a dyno will be sufficient for now ...
A video takes time and can always be added to their promotion

Both are true.
I think that what suits one company to substantiate a claim doesn't suit another and each chooses which suits it best.

TTE like to be very open with their test results.

This kit is pretty aggressive. Requires some other quite serious modifications, for example for their top end, 480PS (472hp) tune, your going to need some serious gearbox upgrades for both manual (uprated clutch) and DSG (additional friction discs needed, not included in price of kit). They make some pretty massive induction and exhaust changes with oversized pipes before and after the turbo charger (downpipe, larger diameter exhaust etc) and an overhaul of the ECU and TCU software. Not sure on what replacement turbo they supply, looks like you need to contact them for more information.

GPS times quoted aren't bad but I've seen one from a Golf R quoted at 2.98 GPS. Was posted here a while back or at one of the VW sites, had less modifications than this kit proposes. They also offer a brake and suspension upgrade (additional cost!!) which would make track use a much better experience. Not sure if suspension provided is a coilover replacement or just springs, if it's the latter, maybe the above is not as relevant.

If you want a fun track day car then you need to think about your cars suspension geometry just as much as you think about the engine. The S3 doesn't have great damping on the stock setup (mag ride), so a coilover replacement would be a good place to start, get an adjustable set and your good to go. If you want to go all the way, replace your bushings and control arms with improved aftermarket replacements from people like SuperPro and get a decent 4wheel alignment!

many thanks for your answer!
I had a product from HGP , a mkIV 2.8 VR6 turbo but never tracked it.
My concern is about reliability for track use.

regards

I heard that the Golf is having problems with the clutch from Getriebeklinik... Too much torque :)

Then maybe you heard some results also hp / torque ?

Maybe i will switch to a RS3 if the results (vs cost) are disappointing.
I will need to find some cash for that tho ....

Yes I know. But as I said they had problems.... If you would like to have sound, than go for the RS3. Friend of mine has one and the sound is unbelievable with a downpipe. But I think if you only would like to have a fast car. Than stay for the S3. In my opinion the S3 with a TTE5xx is faster than a RS3 with TTE500.

Is it me or is development on this new gen 3 ea888 taking longer than with the old tfsi?
I guess it's worth the wait but at this point I might as well be putting my tuning money into the new TT-RS fund!

I don't think it's taking much longer to be honest, other than with things like encryption, and if you consider that there are still new parts, and new developments for the 8P model,it puts it into perspective.

there are different opinions of the DSG dokter ......

Such as....?

The experience of the few I know who've used them has been good.
Decked, who used them to set up his DSG conversion, when others had failed, had a lot of very good things to say.

To be fair,I may not need to use them if/when I get around to this on mine as we will likely use a DQ500 with Syvecs ECU running it via the gearbox ECU.
Clutch packs are an issue,as I know others have had problems with the SSP clutch packs also, but getting something in the DSG world to cope with 800Nm isn't easy.

Changing the topic slightly....

I've got a DTUK box coming my way.. I know normally to get the best performance etc you would want a custom map to run along side an exhaust with downpipe.

I plan to get an induction kit, exhaust and the revo or other brand downpipe.. How well will this run with the DTUK box?

are you not able to get a remap with your ECU?

I am, mine was registered in '14 so wont be a problem.

I just fancied trying one of these, a friend has one on his Golf 7R and its pretty good.
Had custom maps etc on the rolling road before so just wanted to be different.
I do want to get the APR software at some stage but not just yet as I seem to buy cars and spend tonnes on them in the first couple of months then be royally bored with them and sell up so wanted to start at the lower end of the tuning ladder with this one.

Really weird you replied too... Was just watching your YouTube videos (world of F1 isn't very busy at the moment lol)

It's a new intake pipe. Possibly by Forge but not sure. Hassan at Awesome said will have some in stock next week. stated gains in top end 4.5K up but no negative affects on low end.

So if interested I'd contact Awesome to get in early as I think he said only 10. No mention on price.

Hi all.

Does anybody have any update on remapping a late 2015 car yet? Everywhere I have tried hasn't been able to do it.

Thank you

Anybody here tried Racechip on S3 or other mqb car?

If I understand correctly it doesn't use the bottom connector and thus doesn't require jacking up the car which I consider to be a big bonus.

However don't find much independent info about it...

argh more money on the quest for 400bhp+
this with the neuspeed discharge pipe and APR intercooler should max out my car.

Dan, Thats a great plan you have there buddy! Will definitly be maximising the stage 2/stock turbo! No doubt you will get bored and go stage 3 or TTE5XX!

For those of us who can't source locally,USP Motorsports have been very efficient when I've used them.

It says no longer available? Where else can this be bought ?

TTE525 is here!
Well this certainly puts APR in a tight spot with their stage 3!
Then again they haven't released figures...

no times as yet.. just look at the German weather.

Can you please list what needs to be changed on the car?... Exhaust, Intercooler etc...

This is our car mods : Miltek with CAT, VWR600 intake, Wagner Intercooler, 102 Aral fuel, Getriebe klinik clutch upgrade, MTR software
