We collected a new S3 sportback in Sepang over the weekend.

Not done a long distance run in it yet but we're really happy with the colour, build quality and the options we added. And before someone says it, all Audi's around my way are white, silver or grey (including my 8P). It's actually nice to see a bright blue Audi for a change.

One small niggle are the electric seats.... Is there no memory feature? We had a BMW over 10 years ago that used to remember the key that locked the car had the seat set in a particular position and moved back to that if another key had locked the car and left the seat in a different position. The Audi doesn't seem to do that, and it doesn't appear to have a preset button either? Or am I missing something?

Overall we're happy with the choice and it feels a nicer place to be than my S3 8P. It just needs some tinkering under the hood :racer:

No memory feature, which largely defeats the object of electric seats, and why few people specify them. The (identical) keys store things like individual drive and nearside dipped mirror reversing settings.
Compared to other manufacturers its a bit archaic and low rent, and not in keeping with Audi's "vorsprung durch technik" chant.
Trawl the forum and you'll find other examples eg GMT/Summer time changes; Smart/Dumb key; where Audi are not up to scratch.

Don't worry though, you've chosen the best colour and will have great fun driving it.

Thanks for the replys.
I'm liking the interior light pack, much better than what I've got in the 8P, the way the led's curve around the B&O speakers is a nice touch. The Nav with AMI is so much better than the RNS-E, I was worried about it being a little dated with Apple carplay being rolled out, but I've got to say I really like it. The 8V really is a big jump in quality over the older model.

I really don't get the hype around Apple CarPlay, what does it do that Audi MMI doesn't?

A friend has it on his Golf R and I've got to say I wasn't that impressed. It's a clean user interface but the MMI system is just as good IMO. And you don't get grubby fingerprints all over the screen.

How long before you start thinking about engine upgrades ?

This ones the family car, predominantly being used by the wife. I'm confident a stage 1 remap will magically appear when it goes in for its first service.

I'd consider selling mine for a saloon RS3 if they release it....

Must admit I wasn't sure how I was gonna get on with the MMI being so used to touchscreen technology but I can honestly say it's superb. After a few weeks use it becomes so intuitive you could operate it yer sleep!! ;)

Great looking car (other than the colour) I hope you enjoy it.................
