Want to get a set of steel rods in the old girl to try and keep the old motor together when I attempt another hike in power.

Who's best to order from as there were a few sets on ebay circa £200. Don't mind paying a few more £ for a better product.

I'm assuming my 96 AEB will be 144mm with 20mm wrist pin? And also assume I will want a rifle drilled variant?

Cheers

The ZRP rifle drilled rods from TSR Performance are £399. Not sure on any oil shaft clearance problems but might be worth a look.

I was looking too, hopefully ones you don't have to modify the oil pump drive

Nice are they supposed to be straight fit?

The older versions of the H beam rods that everyone sells used to need clearancing, but they seems to have redesigned them slightly to clear.

IE used to modify the rod, rather than the engine, and sell a special AEB rod. Back then i bought Brute I beams as they fitted without issue, and were rifle drilled, but Pagparts has updated the Brute design to be the same as the H beams everyone else sells.

If your stroking the engine to 2.0, then the oil pump drive will need cut back, but new generation rods and stock stroke should fit just fine.

Cool. I'm not stroking it as this is a budget build for me to abuse. I've done the £5k engine build on my RS and just spend more time being nervous something will break than just enjoying it.

Will get some pics up once the motor's pulled

This is fantastic news, exactly what I need to hear :)
